I started 20mg Adderall XR a month ago for Inattentive ADHD. My second month of the prescription began today, with a dosage increase to 30mg. I also had a routine eye doctor appointment today.
When I went to the eye doctor last year (before starting Adderall), I was told I have astigmatism. It wasn’t affecting me much in my day-to-day life, however, so I didn’t get glasses/contacts.
Today, when I went to the eye doctor after taking Adderall, my pre-dilated results indicated strong near-sightedness. After dilation, it was quite the opposite, and indicated far-sightedness. I have also dealt with blurry vision lately, especially in the afternoons when my medication is wearing off, but I’m not totally sure if this is vision related or because I’m zoning out.
My eye doctor did say there was a noticeable decline in my vision since my previous visit a year ago.
I ended up ordering glasses with a partial version of my post-dilation prescription (far-sightedness). My eye doctor said he wasn’t giving me the full prescription yet because it would be Very difficult for my eyes to adjust to.
I was just wondering if anyone has some experience with this, or any knowledge that can help illuminate my situation. I’m a little left in the dark, as my eye doctor said he wasn’t totally sure on the impact of Adderall on vision.
Is it worth getting glasses? Will glasses just be addressing a problem I don’t really have? Will glasses have a significantly different impact on my vision on the days I take Adderall vs. the days I don’t?
