Semi-stray cat and flea treatment
My parents live in the countryside, and there is a very sweet and friendly female cat that often comes by their house to eat. She isn't exactly a stray, as she does have an owner, but unfortunately the owner is a somewhat "eccentric" woman who probably has her own issues, and I honestly don't know how well she actually takes care of the cat.
In the past, I saw the cat with quite a severe case of conjunctivitis. I don't know whether it was treated or simply cleared up on its own. Before that, she had a bad infection around her rear end, which I assume must have been treated at some point, although I have no idea by whom.
Recently, I've noticed that the cat scratches and grooms herself excessively. When I checked her, I found a few fleas as well as some small scabs on her skin, which I assume are caused by parasites. For this reason, I would like to start treating her with a long-lasting Frontline product or similar (the type that is applied every two months), because I doubt her owner is taking care of flea prevention, although I can't be 100% certain.
So my question is: if the cat is already receiving flea treatment (again, I doubt it, but it's possible), would it be a problem if I applied another treatment on top of it?
P.S. You might say, "Why don't you just ask the owner?" As I mentioned, she's a rather peculiar and reclusive person. Since we've grown attached to the cat, I'd rather take care of the issue myself. I just want to make sure I wouldn't be putting her at risk by accidentally giving her a "double" flea treatment.
Gatta semi-randagia e antipulci
