What is lamotrigine prescribed for besides bipolar disorder?

I’ve been taking lamotrigine for about a year (although I stopped taking it on my own for a while and then started taking it again a few months later), and I feel much better compared to how I was before I started taking it.

But I honestly don’t know what my problem is, and my psychiatrist hasn’t told me anything about it.

I’ll ask her the next time I see her, but I want to know for myself in the meantime what kinds of things it can be prescribed for.

Does anyone else experience intense emotional reactions to rejection or disappointment?

I’m writing this right now because I’m feeling really awful over something so small, and I genuinely don’t know who to talk to about it.

Sometimes I’ll randomly want to do something, like go out with my family, and they’ll say no. Or I’ll want to watch a movie with my partner and he just don’t feel like it for whatever reason.

I know most people would probably just be like “oh well, that sucks” and move on, but I get really upset over it. Like, way more upset than I feel like I should be. It can feel like I’m going to be sad forever, and sometimes I end up crying over it. I also get this really heavy feeling in my chest when it happens.

Does anyone else get like this? Could this be related to ADHD, or are there other things that can cause reactions like this?

Can somebody help meee

Hi, I wanted to ask how psychiatrists diagnose ADHD?

I’m taking medication for depression, but I feel like I have many ADHD symptoms. However, I’m not completely sure. Sometimes I spend hours researching ADHD. I just want to understand why I’m like this.

I’ve never talked to my psychiatrist about these kinds of things before. I’ve only had two very short sessions with her

I’m afraid that if I bring it up this time, if I really do have ADHD, she won’t notice the diagnosis, or that I’ll somehow make it seem like I have it when I actually don’t. I know that sounds stupid

But my mind is so focused on this issue, and until I’m able to see her again, I feel like I’m going crazy from thinking about it so much😭
