Buying a CPO BMW with a police report??
This is my first time buying a car so please be patient with me. I’m looking at buying a CPO 2025 X3 (listed for $46K) that’s fully loaded. However on the CarFax it says it says, “Functional damage reported”. It’s a factory car but I feel like that shouldn’t mean much to the sale. Also it has 15.5K miles on it and they say I wouldn’t qualify for any incentives or discount because it sits at a “weird” mileage.
I’m buying from an actual BMW dealership. However, when I asked the salesman he said, “Best I can do is probably get the doc fee waived. This car is priced with the accident in mind. So you are already paying the price of the accident depreciation. Not to mention minor accidents really don’t affect resale/trade in value. For example if I was taking a car in in trade with a minor like this, we wouldn’t change the value because of it. And most dealers are the same.”
However, I feel like that’s a lie because most dealerships if they see a carfax with a ding on it and see a police report was filed they’re going to make sure they deduct that from my trade.
Am I being dramatic? He showed an internal report and it cost $1.00. But I’m not sure if that’s insurance covering or the dealer really didn’t have anything wrong with it?! Am I being unreasonable asking for a discount, is this worth it?
I found another car an hour away clean title, has the driving assist package, premium package, and illuminated kidney grill with less miles, CPO, and cost less. Only thing missing the “M Sport Package”.
Should I just focus on the car an hour away or really try to negotiate this down?
