Seeking Guidance: 23M from Algeria with Management Background & Red Crescent Experience
Hey everyone,
I’m reaching out to this community to see if I can get some direction or advice on my journey toward becoming a flight attendant or securing a ground-based role at an airport.
I am a 23-year-old male from Algeria, and I’ve been working hard to build a profile that stands out. Here is a bit about my background:
Education: I hold a Bachelor’s in Management (Business Administration). I graduated as a "5-Star Student" and ranked 2nd out of 88 in my class.
International Experience: I completed an Erasmus+ exchange program in Poland, which gave me great experience navigating diverse environments.
Volunteering/Leadership: I’ve served as a Volunteer Coordinator with the Red Crescent for 5 years, focusing on logistics, inventory, and onboarding.
Languages: Native Arabic speaker, Certified C1 English proficiency, and a solid command of French.
Physicals: 182cm tall and 74kg.
Current Status:
I have a strong CV and I’m currently in the process with Air Arabia (just completed the assessment). I’ve also applied to several other major Middle Eastern carriers.
The Challenge:
Despite these qualifications and a strong desire to start my career in aviation, the process has been incredibly difficult. I feel like coming from Algeria presents extra hurdles, honestly, it feels like xenophobia plays a role in how applications are filtered, making it feel like an uphill battle regardless of merit.
What I’m looking for:
Are there specific airlines (Middle Eastern, European, or African) that are known for being more inclusive or active in recruiting from North Africa right now?
Any tips for an aspiring male cabin crew member to stand out even further in the current market?
Should I be focusing more on specific airport ground roles given my management and logistics background?
I’m ready to work hard and relocate, but I could really use some guidance from people who know the industry. Thanks in advance!
