Dry eyes/demodex. Anyone has taken oral Ivermectin to get rid of Demodex?

How was your experience taken oral Ivermectin to get rid of Demodex? did it really help to solve the issue?

What type of side effects did you experience?

One Ophthalmologist prescribed Xdemvy, but another Opthalm. said not to use it. So I'm hesitant to use Xdemvy.

I also tried tea tree cleaning products on my eyes, but they are too irritating for me and made my eyes even drier:( so this is not an option for me.

Gentle Hypochlorous acid to clean eyes is ok and helps with the itchiness, but it does not get rid of the demodex.

Rosacea + Seb Derm or FA. Need rec for a Tinted Sunscreen that won't trigger Malassezia.

The hell of Rosacea and Malassezia issues that shows up as either Seb Derm or FA, fungal acne. My skin is over-reactive for I'm following a strict Seb Derm/FA safe products for skincare.

I"ve been looking for a while but I don't seem to find a tinted sunscreen that absorbs well and doesn't have a too much silicone feeling.

I need a tinted sunscreen free of alcohol and fragrance.

Could anyone recommend a tinted sunscreen that is Seb Derm/FA safe?

I found Cotz premier & sunscreen, which is Seb Derm/FA safe. If you use this Cotz SPF how is the feeling? does it absorbs well or just sits one top of the skin? (The color is too orange so the solution is to dilute it with the non-tinted one)

Please do not recommend sunscreens with C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate. This ingredient is listed as FA safe in Appts (skinsort, folliculitisscout, sezia), but I have contradictory info. This based on my research is not Seb Dem or FA safe. Below is the explanation.

C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate is composed of Benzoic acid ester of C12-C15 fatty alcohols. It contains lauryl (C12), tridecyl (C13), myristyl (C14), and pentadecyl (C15) alcohols. Skin can break down this ingredient and then the fatty alcohols will be free for Malassezia to use as a food source.

New research  Dobler et al shows "Unexpectedly, the growth of some Malassezia spp., especially M. furfur, was observed in the presence of a primary fatty alcohol, cetylstearyl alcohol " Our data suggests that in some cases the metabolism of fatty alcohols by Malassezia may be possible. The growth of all Malassezia spp. in the presence of free acids, free acid esters, and fatty alcohols with a fatty chain length above 12 carbon atoms was observed.

Edit: to add no alcohols, fragrance

Malezia BHA PHA Solution. What's been your experience with this? I'm looking for a Salicylic Acid that is Seb Derm safe and that is not too irritating.

Need the SA for my face. My skin tends to be on the sensitive side so I'm looking for a salicylic acid that is not too irritating and won't trigger SebDerm.

This Malezia BHA PHA Solution does not have any ingredients that will trigger Seb Derm. Here are the ingredients and it's a minimalistic formula too.

INCI: Water, Propanediol, Gluconolcatone, Salicylic Acid, Sodium Citrate.

The Gluconolcatone is gentle and it's combined with salicylic acid so I wonder if it would be a bit irritating?

Has anyone used this product?

Here is the link too Malezia BHA PHA

Completely FA safe skincare necessary to treat fungal acne, FA? Please share your experience. I read success stories and the products mentioned are not all 100% FA safe.

I use three different Apps and AI too. For example, ketoconazole prescription cream has ingredients that are not FA safe. I haven't found a sulfur soap that is 100% FA safe. The Ketoconazole shampoo, Seldom blue shampoo which are recommended to wash the face to treat FA, have ingredients that are not FA safe. These are just examples of some treatments.

Then, when I read the success stories and check the skincare mentioned particularly sunscreen and moisturizers, these products are not 100% FA safe.

So it makes me think if it is not necessary to use all skincare that is FA safe? what's been your experience?

On the success stories, many times people mentioned the products are FA safe and that they checked them using Apps like skinsort, scoutfolliculitis, sezia. In my experience using these Apps, sometimes I find that a particular product is shown to be FA safe, but when I check it using AI then it's not FA safe.

In my experience, AI goes into more detail about ingredients and their components, and ability of the skin or Malassezia to break down the ingredients. Once the offending components are free then Malassezia feeds on them. Of course, not all the ingredients can be broken down my skin or malassezia. But knowing which ingredients have offending components and can be broken down by skin/malassezia requires more time and research than just using Apps. Using skinsort, I realize that is about 80% accurate, which is pretty good. But, again it means that some skincare that is not FA safe pass as good to go, then my original question.

I'm talking about the AI because when people post about success stories and the products used are not FA safe, I am not sure what to think about it. If someone checks their skincare in Apps and use the product because they think it's FA safe, does it mean FA safe skincare is not necessary to solve the FA issue? I'm not sure what to think. Anyone has any thoughts about this?

Sebamed Clear Face gel. How do you use it and what's been your experience with this gel?

I keep reading that Sebamed gel is not moisturizing enough, so I wonder if anyone has success using it and how do you apply it?

The ingredients look great for my acne prone skin. I have a normal to dry skin. I'd really like to try it. If you have successfully use it, how do you apply it?

I was thinking to use this Sebamed gel as a serum so apply first then follow by a moisturizer. Or even better for my acne prone skin, first Sebamed then my sunscreen.

The only issue is that my skin is very acne prone and I may also have fungal acne (not sure) so the moisturizer I use are not occlusive, heavy.

Edit: to add Sebamed then sunscreen

Dry Eyes & Demodex. Cleaning the base of the lashes is not easy. The white flakes, white spikes don't come out easily. How does everyone clean the base of the lashes?

I do warm compress twice per day am/pm. It takes a long time to really clean the base of the lashes. The white flakes are like glue to the base of the eye lashes. Then, something like white spikes seem to be coming from deeper inside. So the whole process of getting rid of the white flakes and white spikes takes a lot time and a lot of rubbing, scrubbing.

My ophthalmologist recommended to use warm towels and that's what I've been doing.

I first do warm compresses then I clean my eyes. Some white flakes and white spikes come out easily, but like half of them are like glue. I have to do a lot of scrubbing/rubbing. I don't have much to clean, but what I get is hard to remove.

After cleaning, I apply Hypochlorous acid the base base of the lashes and eye lids which helps a lot with the itchiness.

How do you clean the base of your eye lashes? does anyone has as much trouble as I've been having. If someone has a method to clean all this, please share with me.

Edit: to clarify cleaning routine.

SqualAne oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride -What's been your experience with them? They are FA safe and I read mixed reviews. I need to find a FA safe moisturizer and has been hard.

Squalane oil and Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride are FA safe based Apps. I read mixed reviews so I wonder.

What's been your experience in these ingredients. I'm trying to have all FA safe.

I have limitations for moisturizers because I cannot use hyaluronic acid and related. And, many, many moisturizers have these HA.

I found this Super Sensa Moisturizer by Authentic ego. It seems gentle and has Squalane oil. Does anyone use this moisturizer?

Gentle MTC oil C8-10 preferable C8 only. Many MTC oils irritate my skin.

Has anyone found a MTC that a does not irritate the skin and is in the C8-C10 range.

I've tried a couple of them, but they are too irritating to my skin so I"m looking for something gentle.

Before I tried the MTC C8 oils that are for drinking/eating. It seems people on Keto diets like this oil. But, they are irritating to my skin.

*Edit to delete C11.

Oral Ivermectin. What has been your experience taking oral Ivermectin? how well it worked? what side effects did you experience?

Derma said I cannot have any topical treatments because anything I used on my face causes burning/stinging feeling. My options are oral medications only until the burning/stinging feeling is resolved (which will take a long time per Derma).

The worse for me is Ocular Rosacea, and need to clean my eyes 3 times per day. I get acne like bumps with whiteheads, which are not too many but they are consistent and all over my face. I also get redness with heat, which is not frequent because the weather where I live is on the cool side.

Derma prescribed Doxycycline 50 mg, but based on my research, Doxy doesn't kill Demodex. and, if I want to solve the Ocular Rosacea, I need something to kill Demodex.

hypochlorous acid - do you apply it on the base of the lashes? is it safe if it migrates to the inside of the eye? and, white flakes -how to remove them? They are like glue to the eye lid.

I tried Ocusoft and it made my eyes drier, so Ophthalmologist told me to use hypochlorous acid to clean eye lids. He mentioned the brand Avenova when I told me eyes get itchy.

If I apply Avenova to the eye lids, it doesn't help with the itchiness. The hypochlorous acid only helps with itchiness if I apply to the base of the eye lashes where all the white flakes are.

I"m not sure it safe to apply to the base of the eye lashes as I'm thinking the hypochlorours acid will travel to the inside of the eye since it's super close.

By the way, the white flakes are hard to remove. They are stuck on the eye lashes based, and it takes a lot of scrubbing to get rid of them. Anyone has a good method to get rid of these white flakes at the base of the eye lashes?

Vaseline on eyelids. For all of you who used Vaseline to eliminate/reduce Demodex, have you experienced blockage on your Meibomian glands ?

Vaseline is a heavy occlusive. I'm thinking that using it every day for enough time to interrupt the cycle of Demodex reproduction and longer as a preventive measure. I'm wondering if the Vaseline usage on the eyelids/base of the lashes will block the Meibomian glands and then get Blepharitis or something like that.

Any words of wisdom from you who use Vaseline for more than a month?

Metrogel discontinued. Is it available in any country or was just discontinued for everyone?

The metrogel was Malassezia safe which I need because I developed Seb Derm recently.
I’m just curious if Metrogel is available in any country because even if it is, I’d not be able to get it.

There are many manufacturers for the generic Metronidazole. Does anyone have one fav manufactuter? I’m looking for a gentle and malassezia safe (better known as fungal acne safe) for the inactive ingredients.

I got one metronidazole by Taro. One of the inactive ingredients is alcohol at 9.3%. I don’t know if anyone with Rosacea would be able to tolerate that amount of alcohol.

What is your FA safe exfoliators for the face?

Glycolic Acid. Does anyone have a good FA glycolic acid exfoliator? I have an area on my face that needs extra help and Glycolic Acid would be ideal.

Im looking for a face cleanser with Glycolic Acid or leave-on.

On the topic of exfoliators, if you have any other type like salicylic acid, lactic acid, physic acid that you really like and are FA safe. I'ld love to know too.

In general my symptoms are light. Symptons for the last six months: 1) Get random dry sensation on my eyes, and goes away on its own or with simple eye drops (without any Rx) . This bothers me the most.

  1. white flakes/crustiness at the beginning of lashes - it looks light not too many.

  2. Some light swelling of the lower lids despite doing warm compresses twice per day every day. It gets better but it doesn't completely goes away. Nobody looking at me will notice. And get random blister on top of my upper lashes that come and go on their own.

  3. random itchiness that doesn't last long.

The Xdemvy seems to be the gold standard. And, given that my symptoms are not too extreme, would it be wise to use this? or would it better to get tea tree oil ointment for the eyes?

Currently, I"m using Ocusoft every day to clean them up and seems to be helping but does not get rid of the problem.

My understanding is that this is a permanent issue that can be controlled only.

What has been your best treatment for Rosaces in the eyes/Demodex blepharitis?

Any words of wisdom will be highly appreciated!
