Swift Interior and Wiper Upgrades πŸš™βœ…

Hi Everyone,

Post photoshoot, the car received an uplifted interior done in stages which is now complete with the addition of inner door panels in black italian alcantara adjacent to lime green pvc leatherette trimmed pads.

Other than the patterned design across the front doors and dashboard, the new swift's panels largely mimic the layout of a mercedes benz's side trims which meant that i could inspect a friend's C-class and notice where rainwater potentially falls noting the channel flow route across the interior.

Hence, alcantara seemed fine for a vertical impression, but the arm paddings had to be in weather resistant pvc. Admittedly, i would have loved for it to be in nappa leather like the steering wheel and rati armrest πŸΉπŸ˜…

Also visible in the door panels are german made oracal sticker reflectives. Since my cars tend to be driven globally, i've been looking for a way to amplify overall brightness at night when it is cold and visibility reduced due to fog as well as sleet.

After a fair bit of research i decided only three options would be suitable:

A: Installing a bulb style light embedded around a washer style frame mount screwed into the inward facing door trim edge like those in ferraris, which would be best as it delivers a consistant, sharp broadcast yet likely cause potential wiring issues that could be problematic in light flood encounters.

B: Affixing a puddle light system downwards to lighten the immediate area without any logos, purely utilitarian, which would illuminate the ground under the door in a wide radius and act as assistance during entry/exit in snowy terrain. Like option A, this suffers from a wiring cost and potentially cause other issues to crop up πŸ€”

C: Stick non invasive reflective stickers of a high quality in key areas to amplify and diffuse small amounts of light from multiple angles, enough to act as a safety barrier yet passive enough not to draw from the vehicle's battery or compromise the wiring loom throughout

Located in between the reflective stickers are tactically positioned matte black equivalents designed to add contrast and allow the red vinyl to pop out more in pure darkness where even neglible amounts of light are beneficial πŸΊπŸ˜…πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

These are all done under my design and direction having driven across the world from the hottest deserts to coldest frozen tundras. Lessons learnt from the past 😱

The car also received new PIAA wipers from the local official dealer which are made of a rally-spec chunky plastic exterior housing silicone wipers on the inside.

Given the swift's windscreen curvature, i've found it difficult to use frameless wipers although the convenience of not having to wait to heat the front during winter is nice - something like bosch wipers just don't wipe cleanly around the top edges πŸ§»πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

This is a bit of "best of both worlds" and now the uneven streak is gone. I'm certainly impressed with PIAA so far and this is my first time using their non-exposed line with a frame. Reminiscent of the older Vera series in the late 2000s but with more durability heft.

Lastly, the interior's loom ambience now mimics a domestic (home) SAD lamp for winter travel. Although clearly just an LED bulb, i sought to find the closest K match that would clone SAD alleviating light hues for myself and passengers to reduce seasonal depression.

This is coupled with a convex frameless mirror to reduce blind spots and lift the front centre viewing module to be more in line with premium market vehicles.

Thanks for looking!

Little Swifty's Photoshoots in Singapore !!

With the car project finally over, here are the photos professionally done.
Now I can finally drive it as it is for many years without any further modification.
Way too much spent, but for the base cost i wasn't not going to do it up to my liking hehe

Testing the DIY Car Wash and a new Antenna!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday being Sunday was a great time to try out the car's new oc3 washer πŸ§½πŸšΏπŸ§ΊπŸ™‚πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

About 5-6L was more than sufficient for two washes with light soap and a bit of waterless car wash liquid from sonax πŸΊπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

All in big savings vs using the petrol stations and now just ordered a 3 gallon side tank to expand mobile washing capacities to 6-7 washes with conservative use.

The portable car wash is now a permanent addition in the car, allowing me to deploy and wash whenever wherever!! πŸ»πŸ™‚πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Due to usb c power the hose motor is also self charging in the trunk which takes about 2 hours tops.

Visible in the photos is also a manual gardening can which am using to store sonax wash and wash soap. This is used as a prep prior to hosing the car, making it a simple two step.

Also installed a short antenna from Japan that replaces my existing UK DAB aerial and it is cute. No more having it obstruct the roof or wonder about low height clearances.

Unfortunately towards the end i decided to mess around and try 8 liters (the maximum) in the car. The OC3 spilled whilst driving and all of it tumbled into the boot. Sheer luck that the trunk is soundproofed so all the plain water just pooled below the boot where spare tyre is stored.

It's Been Awhile!!!

Hi Everyone,

It's been awhile and little swifty has now been serviced with an aircon chemical wash as well as an OWS branded engine, cabin, and fuel tank treatment πŸš™πŸ˜Š

The car runs on pure RON 100 which i've gotten used to pumping across the border at the awesome price of just £1.13 per litre!!! 😱😱😱

Cabin seems to be largely temperature controlled post soundproofing and the ac appears not to need to work as hard in overcoming the 34-37c heat here πŸΉπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Just purchased an OC3 portable last week with a USB-C powered 8 litre collapsible tank allowing me two to three car washes anywhere, anytime and also letting me cool off at the beach post swim by showering on the go with a privacy tent πŸ€£πŸΊπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

The unit is powered by a 12v socket located at the rear left towards the back and along with the two armrest three pin power sockets round off a solid camping setup for festival season.

There isn't much left to do at this juncture, so the car is more or less complete.

Thanks for following my adventures and project - Have a great weekend everyone! πŸ™‚πŸ„πŸΌ

SGP πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬ in the UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Hi Everyone,

Just sharing my car in the UK from a previous overland adventure.

Have now moved on to a new Suzuki Swift and planning another road trip again.

In the first picture, it is at Tesco in London along the A4 near Kensington, and second is at the Eurotunnel Terminal.

Projekt Swift: Some New Ideas πŸ’‘

Little Swifty gets a unique matte black trunk edge trim from oracal as well as a full service at the recommended 20000km interval here.

They sell Metador batteries in Singapore which is very rare locally so am excited to give that a go as well.

In picture two towards the back right you can see a Singaporean-specced two tone E6L frontier blue swift, which has one less horsepower than mine from England.

Rear hatch now features joined matte pieces that protect the water run channels from damage, especially in extreme conditions where grit is widespread.

These are placed strategically around the tail lamp edges and atop the rear bumper, ending behind where the insulated pipe for wiper as well as washer hose sit, creating a 3D partition effect.

All doors now have reflective oracal stickers from Germany throughout designed to amplify light in total darkness, with some areas on the front encompassing matte stickers to create a distinction 🚧

To round off the day, Terminax PPF was applied to the front bonnet, and the swift is one of the first in Singapore to have Terminax branded ceramic coating.

It sure looks great on the 8D carbon-x roof film πŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Little Swifty - Grand Finale... Almost There 🍻

Hi Everyone,

The last four parts yet to be coated with terminax are both front fenders, the bumper, and bonnet.

It's crazy how thin the paint is as just a short time from new there were chips across three panels, the front left fender as well as bumper, and hood πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Sooo had to make a decision - either PPF both front fenders, the undented right side, or don't. If only the latter was done, then UV rejection would protect the right yet cause degradation on left as the years go by resulting in a discrepancy in colour over time.

Decided it was best to PPF both sides and clear up the four tiny dents on left as much as possible at my regular paint shop πŸ’‘πŸ˜ŠπŸΊ

Thereafter, we also did an additional sticker using oracal material from germany laid on terminax PPF denoting the battery information as well as additional reflectors on front doors as well as the hood for safety - and a simple yet unique matte black cutout for the bonnet stick to depress on when held up to prevent scratches over time.

Tomorrow will likely be the last item to do before the car is truly done and it will be the most difficult of all 😐🀯

On my previous Mazda Protege (BJ) - had both a Singaporean and American speedometer cluster together side by side and disassembled them to mix 'n' match faces as well as the gauge cluster.

Back then 14 years ago, i successfully transplanted the limited edition 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege silver sprayed gauge centre needle circles into a local speedo cluster ensuring that everything shows in KM/H to 220 as well as my mileage in metric rather than imperial, but retain the MPH outer circle for UK/USA driving 🏎️πŸ’₯

Now the time has come to do the same thing again, SLOWLY, taking into account that LCD in the middle of the speedometer cluster - so that the speed can be seen in MPH in the UK and still show KM/H for Singapore and the EU - AND... convert the mileage shown to KM/H on that tiny little centre screen 🀯🍺

This will have to be done very very carefully and again, SLOWLY.... πŸ˜±πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸ»... with both a UK and Singapore swift aol speedometer cluster side by side.

Thanks for looking and have a good day wherever you are in the πŸ—ΊοΈ

Soundproofing Part 2 πŸ”Š

Went back to Alpine today and had soundproofing done within the trunk.

What a massive upgrade... and we are done!

Today i've also brought a friend who changed all four door speakers to alpine (non high res) with components up in front and coaxials for the rear.

He has a track ready swift and goes to the former GP circuit in Sepang, Malaysia to track it regularly.

Soundproofing Install πŸ”Š

After the previous post, el swifty got all four speakers replaced with high resolution versions as well as soundproofing - three layers in the front doors, two for the rears, and a single for the tailgate.

All from Alpine!

This is the first car locally to install alpine's new proprietary material and it is well ahead of competitors.

What a great upgrade week this has been on the audiophile front πŸ”ŠπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

The front license plate frame now says "swift across all adventures" and this is my own original slogan after much thought. Felt this was appropriate for my car 😊

Now the car has a full alpine sound system and couldn't be happier. Great brand with a great choice.

Little Swifty Goes Audiophile πŸ”Š

Decided to upgrade the car's audio system with a full alpine kit courtesy of the sole local distributor who also happens to be my childhood friend just like the stickers.

We were able to install everything over two days and the sound is amazing now πŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸŽ΅

For a start the ride now has high res components on the front, and coaxials towards the rear, together with an integrated dsp plus six channel amp. This is mated to a seven by seven inch underseat subwoofer. Two remotes control the sub and dsp separately with four preset tuned outputs done πŸ”ŠπŸ”ŠπŸ”ŠπŸŽ›οΈπŸŽšοΈπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Yet to install are alpine branded soundproof foam which is pending arrival and customs clearance as well as a front license plate phrase which i've spent a lot of time refining and my own original idea πŸ’‘

For the foam, we are eager to compare it with dynamat and kilmat to see if alpine can do better in terms of sound dampening being a player in the av game for so long. It looks like the door moisture plastic will have to go so we hope that alpine's in-house material offers better moisture protection once rolled in πŸ˜…πŸ»

The car's rear license plate as some of you are aware says "we drive swift class" and now the front is getting UV printed to display "swift across all adventures".

This is my own concept and encompasses my love for our suzuki swift and goals in taking it on many adventures around the world just like my two previous cars. Should be ready tomorrow πŸ‘πŸΌβœ…

The rear phrase "we drive swift class" is actually a cheeky play off the local mercedes dealer here which sells their cars stock with a frame saying "we drive first class".

People here like to showboat and with the average mercedes costing over £150000 here new for an entry level model they tend not to mind going all the way 🀯🀣

Swift x Alpine - Audio Upgrade

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to the awesome guys at Alpine the swift got an audio uplift with a combined DSP and AMP as well as a 7 inch subwoofer installed.

Took almost seven hours but was easier than expected due to the new model being almost plug and play for the head unit. Wire tucking consumed a lot of the labour time with the scangauge cable relocated now under the steering column as well.

To top it off also purchased the dsp remote at additional cost and must say the swift's sound is highly immersive now.

Sound reproduction is 40% better than before and we can even have a conversation with the music on maximum deafness and still hear each other.

Amazin' πŸ”Š

Two missed mods that needed fixin'

Hi Everyone,

Soo after the photoshoot had a dream at night that two remaining ideas needed to be done with πŸ’‘

Today over lunchtime went down to the sticker shop owned by my childhood friend and finished two more mods.

When the rear swift emblem was sprayed lambo silver it was actually on a new badge i ordered from the dealership.

The stock emblem has double sided tape that matches the "swift" curve so reusing the old one meant issues down the road with trapped dirt at the sides as seasons change and winter salt gets in... so figured i'd fork out a 'lil extra to avoid that problem... which meant i now had a spare chrome swift trunk lying around 🀣🍻

Apparently on the real lambos they put the word "lamborghini" by the glove box... so i thought it would be kinda cool to have that spare emblem sprayed up matte black... and do it over the terminax PPF cut on the emblem to have the edges look protruded even further.

Check out how it turned out in the pictures above 😊

Next, one thing about Asia is people love to flaunt. Sometimes maybe a bit too much... like for example Mercedes here gives a license plate frame from the dealer that says "we drive first class". Crude but that's the car "culture" here.

Sooo me being fun me, decided to get a UV print done that says suzuki: "we drive swift class" πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ»πŸ‘πŸΌ

In order to have a bit of a laugh out of these people i chose a new font over break time at work in the morning called "proxima nova" which turned out amazing. The printed words mix well with the grigio nimbus matte colour and you can see how they sparkle as one in the tropical sun πŸŒ…

Lastly, we reinforced the lambo sprayed license plate frame from amazon uk with double sided tape on all corners evenly so the plate stands straight regardless of weather and avoids deformation over the years.

Thanks for looking and have a great Monday... good morning πŸŒ…, good evening πŸŒ†, and good night πŸŒƒ πŸ˜€

Photoshoot Day πŸ“ΈπŸš™

Hi Everyone,

We did two locations across the city and it takes about three weeks to edit and do the photos so will upload those then - for now these are the shots of our session today πŸ™οΈ.

It was done with kars.kameras on insta who is probably the best photographer in the local scene right now.

Thanks for looking everyone and hope you've enjoyed my car project πŸ‘πŸΌ.

No changes will be made to the car for many years after this, just maintenance and paying off the loan.

At 37 years old this was my one window to do a new car right and how the way I like it for this small period, ever since my previous mazda cx-3 started giving issues at 6 years old and had to go.

The plan was to drive that car forever but unfortunately mazda quality seems to have gone down and the car didn't last as long as expected. That's not to say the brand is bad but stuff happens, which allowed me to restart afresh with a different choice now.

Posting here is not to showoff or put anyone down, this was a personal own goal and just wanted to share my ideas and stuff 😊. Never had the opportunity to do this before so had to milk it, i guess πŸ˜…πŸ€£πŸ»βœ….

So i appreciate you all from around the world taking a look at what my brain can come up with for this final go. I don't think i have the headspace, resources, time or energy to buy a new car and do this again, especially with the high cost of living now so this truly was my one and only chance to get it right.

Thank you.

Ready for Photoshoot this Weekend πŸ“Έ

Little Swifty is all ready for the camera in a few days and all mods are now complete but one super secret final addition coming in tomorrow evening hopefully πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Today the passenger side chassis label area was converted to a custom tyre information chart so i don't need to refer back to that little sticker by the driver's side door when inflating πŸ›ž

It shows the same info as that panel but with a few more fun details thrown in to add some fun as well as charm πŸ˜…πŸ»βœ…

Yesterday, the car had an OBU screen protector installed which should help against glare when driving.

Anyone want to guess the final mod? Hint in the last picture 🌁🀳
