If you survived today's matatu strike, you deserve a remote job!

Today’s matatu strike made me understand why people are desperately trying to get remote jobs.

After spending 2 hours outside wondering whether I was commuting to work or being drafted into the military, I finally understood the remote work obsession.

Meanwhile some guy in a remote job woke up at 8:58am, opened his laptop, typed:

“Good morning team.”

Must be nice.

The worst part is that finding remote jobs from Africa is still unnecessarily hard:

- fake listings

- expired jobs

- geo restrictions

- terrible CV filters

- LinkedIn becoming a motivational podcast

That frustration is honestly why I built https://kazinest.co.ke.

Mostly to help people find remote opportunities faster without applying into the void for 6 months straight.

Because after today, Nairobi transport feels like a side quest nobody asked for.

Why you’re still unemployed (even if you’re qualified)

Hot take, but it needs to be said:

It’s probably not your skills.

It’s how you’re applying.

Here’s what usually happens:

  • You find a job online
  • You rush a CV together
  • You apply with a generic cover letter
  • You send 30+ applications
  • You get silence… and assume you’re not good enough

But hiring doesn’t work like that anymore.

Most companies are filtering applications with ATS systems and AI tools before a human even sees your CV.

If your CV isn’t structured right, you’re invisible.

That’s why we built KaziNest 🚀

An AI career platform for Africans designed to fix exactly this problem:

🔥 Build ATS-friendly resumes that actually get seen
🔥 Generate tailored cover letters in seconds
🔥 Apply with clearer, stronger applications
🔥 Track every job so nothing gets lost
🔥 Find remote + local opportunities in one place

🎁 Free users still get up to 3 professional resumes completely free

And we’re not stopping there - a referral program is coming soon 👀 (early users will get rewarded)

If you’re tired of applying and getting ignored, try it here:
https://kazinest.co.ke

Real question:
Are you actually unqualified… or just invisible to the system?

One more thing we hate about applying for jobs...

Bro, is it just me, or has job hunting in Kenya become a full-time, unpaid toxic relationship?

A few months ago, I looked at my laptop screen at midnight and almost cried. I had like 45 tabs open:

* Fuzu on one side, BrighterMonday on the other, LinkedIn open, and three specific company career portals that look like they were built in 2005.

* My Canva dashboard looking like a graveyard of "Resume\_v1", "Resume\_v2\_Marketing", "Resume\_v3\_ActualFinal".

* And don’t even get me started on losing track of applications. You get a random phone call on a Tuesday morning like, *"Hello, we are calling from XYZ Logistics..." and you’re just standing there pretending you know exactly who they are while furiously searching your emails.

It’s exhausting. We spend 80% of our energy fighting the *process* and managing tabs instead of preparing for interviews.

I got so tired of this mess that I decided to actually do something about it. I’m a local dev, and I built a platform specifically to solve this headache for us.

Instead of bouncing around 50 places, it acts like a central hub. It pulls remote and local jobs together, lets you track where you’ve applied so you don't get caught off guard, and has built-in AI tools to help tweak your resume to pass ATS filters for specific roles (so you can finally stop re-editing 100 different Canva templates manually).

It is completely free to sign up and use the tracking, job board, and cover letter features.

I built this because the Kenyan job market is not for the faint-hearted, and our Chrome browsers shouldn't have to suffer.

Tushikane mkono guys. What else drives you crazy about the application process here?
