Platinum Kaizo, Coronet Ascent Part 3*: Marley and Me

5 Difficult 12v12's. If I wipe at any point, the world ends. I'm using a damage calculator because I don't hate myself. THIS is Mount Coronet.

I forgot to record the second 12v12, sorry about that. I know you all wanted to watch slowbro miss 6 psychics in a row into a crobat.

We're paired with Marley, who specializes in fast Pokemon. My strategy for this battle is to use my dry skin mons to bait kills from both sides' coverage moves into my tanks, and use my tanks to bait rain boosted water moves into my dry skin mons. Marley obliges by popping tf off. I'm very grateful to SHF for making the tag partners functional trainers for this split.

We end up losing toxicroak, but that's okay by me. Gastrodon is way more useful in the endgame as toxicroak's offense really falls off by this point.

Platinum Kaizo Saturn 2

Good god that was a stressful battle.

Saturn 2 is a double battle in permanent rain and trick room. He leads Zapdos and Uxie. The Zapdos threatens huge damage with fully accurate thunder and Uxie is a nuisance with status moves, setting rocks and sleep.

I lead Steelix and Slowbro, both blazing fast in the permanent trick room. I OHKO the zapdos, underspeeding it even with its held macho brace, then hit a yawn into Uxie, cured by its Lum berry, as it sets up rocks.

From there, either cresselia or wailord can come out. Saturn decides on cresselia. Steelix gets put to sleep and cresselia sets up as I miss a yawn. Bad turn for me. I go gyarados, willing to sacrifice it if need be, then pivot steelix back in on slowbro's spot in case cress took the 50/50 thunder into slowbro. We'll never find out who cresselia wanted to kill, because gyarados simply crits crunch for the OHKO.

Now out comes wailord, which is buffed to a comical degree- especially in trick room. The wailord/uxie combo was the position I specifically wanted because with doubles AI, the Uxie being levitate incentives the wailord to use earthquake instead of setting up or clicking rain boosted water spout for unreal amounts of damage (it can one shot nearly my entire box, even after doubles damage reduction.) We pivot around for a while, dealing damage where we can between them seeing kills and my own guys getting put to sleep. It costs me gyarados, but we finally kill the whale.

I bring in rhyperior who surprisingly is not dead to Uxie energy ball. Saturn brings in focus sash Rhydon who falls to stomp/psychic before it can get a move off. Metagross comes in, but rhyperior gets a timely flinch as Uxie targets slowbro.

Uxie now sees energy ball kill into slowbro, allowing me a safe switch to chestnut, and we finish off the legendary with combined rock wrecker and magma storm to seal the victory!

Platinum Kaizo Cyrus 2: Nomu's Finest Hour

We're in the boss rush of Platinum Kaizo's endgame. All the battles here in Galactic HQ are in permanent Trick Room

Cyrus leads a Deoxys-Defense form with crazy buffed stats with Spikes/Low Kick/Psycho Boost/Recover. In order to prevent it from getting spikes up, I need to trick it into thinking it has a kill. Here I was able to do it by leading Tyranitar. Deoxys thinks it can KO me with low kick, but because we hold a chople berry it cannot kill, and because I have battle armor the deoxys can never crit. 2 Crunches take down the bulky monster.

Next in is Reginald Steel. This thing can spiral badly if it sets up curses, so I need to kill it quickly. It sees a KO onto Tyranitar with gyro ball, so I switch to my infernape (from stark mountain, not my starter) and use Close Combat to chip it, then die to an EQ. From there, Nomu can finish it off before it can get an attacking move off, baiting in Reginald Gigas, whose slow start has been replaced with clear body.

The plan here was to sacrifice Nomu and finish the legendary off with Steelix, but Nomu decides she has other plans, ripping a massive Eruption that burns the enemy. A fire spin can finish it off, and in comes Rampardos, activating its berserk gene to gain +1 atk. Nomu isn't finished, though, hitting a ~50% range with earth power to chain kill the demon rampardos.

Next in is Dusknoir, and now it is finally time to bid farewell. Dusknoir sees kill with pursuit, and is pretty likely to use it, so we go out swinging, hitting another massive eruption before we're taken down by shadow punch. We shall never see his like again.

Gyarados takes the revenge kill and can finish off Cyrus' last Pokemon, a Heatran, to seal the victory at the cost of 2 Pokemon.

Platinum Kaizo Volkner

Time for Sinnoh's final gym before the level caps are done! Volkner is a double battle in the rain to enable all his mons to spam thunder. Thankfully, we have a sick-ass crab. Swift swim kingler in the rain OHKO's all of Volkner's electric types, leaving just his last two swift swim mons, kingler and swampert. We finish them off with a combination of gastrodon, kabutops, and rotom to earn our final badge deathless!

Platinum Kaizo Candice (New PB!)

First time making it to Candice!

She leads with a snow cloak froslass, we start with Thoros the Magmortar. Froslass holds a focus sash, so we gamble with fire spin to break through as she sets up spikes. 1 down.

Next up is Lapras. This has dragon dance (1 pp in PK), which is uses as we switch to shell armor slowbro. I use yawn and slack off to stay reasonably high health so that I'm not in range of mamoswine KO. I KO the mamoswine with surf after head smash recoil.

Next out is Regice, and we have a planned sacrifice of Marillion the kricketune to get some chip with accelerrock before finishing it off with adaptability wild charge from electivire.

With the level up, Beric outspeeds articuno by exactly one speed point and KOs with Thunderpunch. Last out is bronzor, which in PK has bronzong's stats. I mess up slightly and try to chip it with TTar, but because of spikes the bronzor can always 2HKO me. So we have to sac Machamp to get the required chip and tempo to get magmortar in to KO and win us the battle.

Platinum Kaizo Byron

We lead Arcanine into his Metagross. Fire fang is a 2HKO as he sets up Stealth Rocks. If he had EQ instead, the line changes a little, but it's ok, if he had crit EQ or Booms, we're in some trouble.

Arcanine baits out his asshole Walrein. This thing is a pain with its new ability Filter reducing super effective moves.

We rip a charcoal boosted Flare Blitz into it, leaving ourselves just enough HP to live a whirlpool + the trapping damage. The second Flare Blitz KO's, but Arcanine dies to the recoil.

Baiting happens based on the dead Arcanine, so I know Steelix is coming in. I go to Kingdra who can 2HKO with octazooka while narrowly living all of Steelix's moves besides Explosion.

We KO Steelix and bait in Dragonite for what I think is ESpeed, but ends up being Draco Meteor. It doesn't matter as Probopass takes both easily and does a little chip to set up a winning endgame. We go to Lucario on an Iron Tail, and even a defense drop isn't enough to stop us. We copycat the Iron tail and KO the dragonite.

Jirachi sees KO only with Doom Desire as we 2HKO with aura sphere, and magnezone dies to a final aura sphere.

Platinum Kaizo Wake

My furthest attempt keeps on running!

Wake leads with a terrifying qwilfish that can set spikes, wreck you with rain boosted aqua tails, or just blow up in your face. Thankfully, I got a fantastic counter for it from the egg given to you by the Valor Lakefront cafe. This Exeggutor is nearly minimum special attack, but it doesn't matter when the qwilfish is sashed anyway. We 2 shot, and then bid farewell to Maelys the Monstrous and explode it against Wake's snorlax.

From there, it's a lot of positioning around wake's other demons, but dry skin toxicroak puts in work against all of them. We have to sacrifice Varys the intimidate ariados for a switch into luxray, but a 2 death Wake in PK is a huge win!

Platinum Kaizo Maylene

Reckless Wild Charge goes BRRRRRR.

We fake out and wild charge the lead kangaskhan as Maylene sets up rocks. Dodrio comes in and we take our first risk- high jump kick crit can kill Cersei. No crit, we're still good.

The damage we've taken is enough that hitmonlee sees kill with high jump kick, meaning it won't fake out to proc its toxic orb for a quick feet speed boost. Because of that, we outspeed on turn one and KO with another wild charge.

Time for the second risk- wild charge is a range to OHKO medicham. I roll the dice, and get the OHKO.

From there, claydol, donphan, and probopass clean up the back end of Maylene for a deathless victory!

Platinum Kaizo Gardenia

We skipped over 2 deaths on the Gardenia split- we lost a really great Furret and Sam Tarly the Sealeo against Terra and Luna at the end of Eterna Forest. After this battle, that brings the total deaths for the run up to 4.

Platinum Kaizo Roark

I finally made it to a place in this attempt where it's a real run. Without further ado, the humble beginnings of attempt 29.

Mono-Dragon Renegade Platinum: Cynthia

This is it. And it is a shitshow...

We lead Ampharos to captivate Cynthia's lead. It's 50/50 to get a lead Ampharos can captivate, since her Spiritomb is genderless and her Togekiss is male. Regardless, we get the Milotic lead and the plan works. We go to Kingdra... who I forgot to teach waterfall. Instead, I only have dive to use after I set up, and can't break through recover. Realizing this, I go to salamence and set up... only to realize it only has dragon claw, and mitotic is a fairy type in this game.

So back to kingdra and dive to get it to run out of recover, then go to charizard once it only has light screen. We substitute and belly drum, KO milo, and proc rough skin against garchomp to activate our salac berry. We pick up kills against Ampharos and Spiritomb and it's just Lucario and Staraptor in the back.

Lucario has priority, and I realize too late to Save Aegon I, but the late comer Visery's II lives up to his name by cleaning up the mess left behind by his predecessors, defeating Lucario and finishing off the battle with a critical hit into Staraptor.

With that, my dragons are the champions of Sinnoh, and I really need to get off my ass and lock in on PK.

Renegade Platinum Mono-Dragon: Lucian

We get the espeon team against Lucian this time, which is likely the best case since it will spend time setting up reflect instead of attacking and has no fairy moves.

We set up on Espeon, and KO it. When medicham comes out, I do have to be careful because I am not guaranteed to KO through reflect, os instead of attacking, I waste two turns protecting and setting up a substitute until reflect wears off.

From there it's an easy sweep. Tomorrow our final challenge awaits us.
