Hi all,

As previously primised, it's time to discuss the use of AI in the sub. The results will apply to all of our sister subs (r/StarfieldShips, r/StarfieldOutposts and r/StarfieldPhotography)

The poll options are based on the ways I have seen AI previously being used on the sub and community feedback. They are unbiased so that the community can decide what they want for themselves.

The vote will only apply to AI generated images, for 2 main reasons.

Firstly, the chatbot style AI bots that plague other subs aren't really a problem here as we are a niche subreddit, and they only usually thrive on more general subreddits with higher traffic. They are usually pretty easy to spot, especially in subs like ours.

Secondly, AI use is ubiquitous in today's society, with many using it for non-nefarious, such as for translation or for help with communication for those with learning disabilities.

I will add a new rule, if necessary, based on the results. I will leave the comments open to invite further feedback (Please keep things civil).

I have made a small change to our rules. There is nothing new, just some clarification on our current rules

First off, I removing "Rule 8 - make a minimum effort." This rule was intentionally vague as this community is exceptional at fair self moderation, but unfortunately a small number of unsavory individuals are using the vagueness here for malicious intent against other user and to harass moderators.

We are still keeping the contents of this rule, but it is now spread across 2 new rules...

**"**NEW - Rule 8 - Original Content only"

Only post ship builds that are your own. Do not copy other people's designs and repost them. If your build was inspired by another user, please give credit where appropriate.

**"**NEW - Rule 9 - Use descriptive post titles"

Do not use vague or clickbait titles. Do not ask for ship names in the title of your post. If you genuinely want community suggestions for names, ask in the comments of your posts or check our FAQ

We are removing the part of this rule aimed at low quality images, we will leave this to community feedback rather than an enforceable subreddit rule. As long as photos are clear and people like your builds there is no reason to be strict on this. If you post low quality images that are difficult to interpret or crop your build, it's understandable that your post will get low engagement. We will still keep a guide for posting better quality images.

These new rules are clearer and more concise and help us to more easily moderate the sub. Unfortunately, as I have said previously, we still have some unsavory individuals who will try to exploit these rules, We have identified where this is happening and escalated this to the Reddit team who have taken action, and now by removing the vagueness of "low effort" as a report option we can more easily identify when users are abusing the report feature and escalate it more easily.

Thankfully, the negativity on this sub is overwhelmingly overshadowed by the positivity. This is just a small quality of life change to make things a little easier.
