Base ship

Is there a particular base ship people like to use to get the custom builds? Does anyone base ships on Frontier, or on a particular Ecliptic ship, or something else.
Or is the customization so great that it doesn’t matter?

Nova Galactic General Purpose Ship

When ordered the ship would be very basic with the intention that the orderer would dictate what modules and ancillaries were to be fitted, up to a set fee. Naturally the customer could order higher spec’ items and pay the difference.

Due to this very few ships would be alike. They were fitted out as anything from emergency response and patrol ships to pleasure craft and prisoner transport.

This did, of course, play havoc with their second hand value.

Shadowbird || Stealth Frigate

Shadowbird was a top secret project funded by Sysdef to create a low-observability spacecraft designed for deep penetration within hostile territory to hit high value targets. Only one was completed before the end of the Colony War, and was subsequently kept in service despite its original designed mission no longer being needed. Instead the Bird has turned into a formidable pirate hunter since its stealth features allow it to sneak up on unsuspecting Crimson Fleet elements, which then fall to its formidable armament.

Flying wings are my favourite shape for planes or spaceships, but vanilla Starfield makes it really hard to create any. This is my best shot at the shape while still keeping a good amount of usable interior space.

Is anyone else bothered by the room to room layouts?

It’s a small thing I know, but on every sci-fi film or programme I’ve seen and every diagram of ships, they have corridors. If you’re not building something at least 2 habs wide, corridors are non existent. Why would I want my engine room (or whatever) opening up directly into the crew quarters? Doesn’t it make more sense to have a corridor - either to one side or central - then rooms/bunks off to the side? Unless I’m missing something.
It makes me think of when you go to look round old manor houses or stately homes and you just walk room to room.
Sorry captain, I know you’re trying to sleep but I’ve just gotta go take a dump and walk right past your bed. I’ve then gotta go make a lot of noise in the room next door, sweet dreams.
Probably just me but I’d love to see more incorporating more corridors

Sometimes you gotta trade some performance for the better looks...

I'll let the images and their captions speak for themselves. The circular thing (that doesn't even provide a connection point, which is also very annoying) was bugging me like hell. I finally decided to sacrifice some performance, grav jump distance dropping from 28LY to 23LY which isn't even such a huge change... and my beloved Polaris looks MUCH better now.

You really got to sometimes embrace the looks even if it means sacrificing some functionality.

My baby, the Void Dancer

Built using some parts from the Antares: Supra mod, a cockpit from the Institute of Naval Technology Glassless Cockpits mod, and the flip merge option turned on.

I know she's harder to see in a couple of the shots, but that was an aesthetic choice to showcase the inspiration for her name.

Hopetech Class Frigate: Bulwark lll

I noticed the freestar collective had no dedicated warships, I aimed to change this with a frigate made by hopetech using purely hopetech parts.

At a price of 16,699* credits, I have built the cheapest ship possible!

I present: The Flea! It's small, annoying to your enemies, and doesn't pack much of a punch.

The screenshots show the upgraded Amun-Dunn Amun-1 engine (because I wanted it to be as symmetrical/visually appealing as I could make it), as well as the optional shield and weapon, which gives it a price of 20,796 credits as shown. (The weapon mount was required since the weapon had nowhere it could otherwise be mounted.)

NOTE: This build is made using NOTHING BUT VANILLA PARTS!

*The price of 16,699 credits is if you downgrade the engine to a single Reladyne White Dwarf and choose not to equip any shield or weapon. This has the unfortunate side-effect of creating a highly asymmetrical design.

**Prices are also reflective of having Commerce skill 4 and the permanent 2% discount from Kryx's Journal 01. Without these, the price becomes 26,525 (as shown, or 21,300 with the downgraded engine and no shield or weapon).

All parts were purchased from the kiosk at the Landing Pad with Shipbuilder at an outpost.

Here is a full breakdown of the cost (Part name: Base price / Discount price):

  • Deimos 120LD Landing Bay: 850 / 666
  • HopeTech Armstrong 10 Cockpit: 3850 / 3018
  • Taiyo Extender Port 200 Docker - Top: 900 / 706
  • Amun-Dunn Amun-1 Engine: 4600 / 3606
  • Ballistic Solutions, Inc. 100G He3 Tank: 1250 / 980
  • Stroud-Eklund Accu-Lander 11 Landing Gear 650 / 510
  • Nova Galactic NG150 Grav Drive: 5000 / 3920
  • HopeTech Companionway 1x1: 1050 / 823
  • Amun-Dunn 330T Stellarator Reactor: 4250 / 3332
  • SUBTOTAL: 22400 / 17562
  • Dogstar 10S Protector Shield Generator: 2250 / 1764
  • Horizon Defense Horizon Weapon Mount: 500 / 392
  • Horizon Defense Mauler 104L Cannon: 1375 / 1078
  • GRAND TOTAL AS SHOWN IN SCREENSHOTS: 26525 / 20796
  • OPTIONAL SINGLE-ENGINE CONFIG: Reladyne White Dwarf 1000: 3500 / 2744
  • SUBTOTAL (no shield or weapon): 21300 / 16699
  • TOTAL (with shield and weapon): 25425 / 19933

NOTE: A full table of the parts list is included as a screenshot in the attached photos.

My inspiration to build the cheapest ship possible was provided by an unnamed Redditor with their design of the "Duckling" (which can be seen here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/1ihcofx/at_a_total_cost_of_18068_credits_the_duckling_is/ )

EDIT: Added that ship was created using only vanilla parts

Q'Reth Alien Multirole craft

Hello Captain's 🫡

I'd like to introduce you to Q'Reth which is an unknown alien multi-role craft.

Its low profile and excessive thrust capabilities allow it to outmanoevere the most adept of crafts.

Only 1 pilot can man this craft but I imagine Will Smith saying "Welcome to Earth" with this one 😂

The mods used:

Antares Supra

Avontech Shipyards

Matilija Aeropace V9.0

SMSEX by Rux

I truly hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed building it 😊
