Something's going to happen here - they aren't spending this much time on a nuthin burger. No one watching wants this. It just doesn't track. Izaiah is committed to Eva and while Kat may get off on making Eva jealous, she does not want to give up the high ground.

But what if they made it so Eva and Tomas thought that Izaiah and Kat had cheated on them and then got drunk and slept together again? I could see them turning to one another if they felt betrayed. Then we'd have breaks up and drama.

Otherwise, I just don't see this going down. While Kat may be wavering on Tomas, Izaiah is solid on Eva - I can't see how that changes.

Still wish it weren't happening. I know I'm not the only one who wants a break from Eva and Kat fighting.

It finally dawned on me last night that the Dream are named for MLKs "I Have A Dream" speech. What an awesome choice. It is now my favorite WNBA team name.

The NY Liberty comes in second; a tie in with the statue of liberty and a message of freedom is fantastic for a women's basketball team.

Fans loved Shanice when we only saw her behind the nurses' station dishing out gossip and tell it like it is. Ashley has been quite enjoyable now in a similar role listening to other people talk about their problems, giving advice and chatting and joking around. Ashley's big stories with Derek and Andre were a failure and as a result, many people hate her as a main character. But the actress has good chemistry with a wide variety of cast members and excels as a friend and confidant. She brings energy to all her scenes. She and Grayson aren't anything to be excited about so making their romance off screen is fine too. Backburnering her in this way is a great way to redeem her.

Leslie. That woman was willing to kill sweet Laura just so Eva could get a temp job with Nicole. What wouldn't she do to Kat if Kat got with her precious baby's boyfriend? Skin her alive before murdering her? Bring Kat's severed head to Eva to gloat over?

Although, Kat did say "you owe me" to Leslie after giving Eva a chunk of her liver. It would be hilarious to see Kat claiming Izaiah as her debt payment.

Just realized that the Commanders - who have been my team for 52 years - are playing the Cowboys at 4:25pm on Sunday September 20 and the Mystics are playing the Fever at 4pm.

This is only my second year watching the Mystics but they've totally won me over. I'm taping the Commanders and watching the Mystics live. It doesn't help that the Commanders O line is for shit this year and I'm not looking forward to Jaden running for his life.

Anyone else a fan of both teams?

BTG seems to be bending over backwards trying to make us feel sorry for Leslie, to help us understand her obsession with Ted, to sympathize with her. I do feel bad that she fell in love with Ted, that he mislead her about his intentions - or his intentions changed once Nicole got pregnant - that he wanted her to get an abortion and Bill ran her out of town. But none of that justifies returning some 25 years later to get revenge and try to win Ted back. Trying to kill Laura - twice - so Eva could get a job working for Nicole, humiliating Nicole at her anniversary party? Not things I can just forget about.

And then there's Joey. Doug tried to fight his gambling addiction but Joey wanted him in his debt so he could launder money in Vanessa's business so he forced Randy to reel Doug back in and eventually entrapped him. And that wasn't enough for him, he had to go after Vanessa too, pushing Doug over the edge. He wouldn't have had to kill Doug if he hadn't seduced Vanessa and started an affair with her and wounded Doug's pride. Besides having Doug killed, he also had Kenny killed, threatened Martin and continues to blackmail Det Malone into doing his bidding. But instead of holding him responsible for his criminal behavior we have to witness these good guy, hero moments - making gourmet meals and pushing women away from falling chandeliers. To make him look better by comparison, they've introduced his sister, a woman so scary police officers retire rather than have to face her.

Is this what soaps are like now? Villains get softened and redeemed instead of facing the consequences of their actions? I watched Y&R until the mid-eighties and ATWT and GL until they were cancelled and this is not how things went down on those shows.

I don't like this trend at all.

Sometimes BTG drops references to some fascinating places in black history. I especially love that they didn't give us a lecture or an explanation, just hoped some of us would notice and think, "Wait did Haley of all people just bring up Highland Beach?"

In 1892, Major Charles Douglass, youngest son of Frederick Douglass, and Charles’ wife Laura, were turned away from a restaurant at the Bay Ridge Resort and Amusement Park because of their race.  The resort was separated by a narrow channel—the mouth of Black Walnut Creek—from property owned by the Brashears, a local black family. Crossing the channel, it was through a chance encounter between a member of the Brashears family and Charles and Laura Douglass that the origins of Highland Beach are rooted. After discussions over the next several months, and with financial assistance from his father, Charles Douglass worked out an arrangement to purchase a two-thirds interest in forty acres of the original forty-eight-acre Brashears estate from two of the heirs—Daniel Brashears and Georgianna Lane. In the spring of 1893, they settled on the purchase of twenty-six and two-thirds acres of land that would become Highland Beach. And almost a century later, in 1988, Highland Beach annexed the eight-acre Dr. John E. Washington tract.

By 1894, Douglass had built the first cottage, establishing a retreat for himself and others on the Chesapeake Bay. With 600 feet of beachfront, he turned it into a summer enclave for family and friends. Frederick Douglass—famed activist for abolition and women’s suffrage, orator, publisher, diplomat and adviser to President Abraham Lincoln, perhaps the most famous black man of his time, and one of the most photographed personalities in our nation’s history—would have become a resident had he not died in 1895 before the summer home, that his son Charles was building for him, was completed.

The Town of Highland Beach became a gathering place for educated blacks, including many of the well-known blacks of the time and later years. Among the residents and guests were—Paul Robeson, concert artist and stage and film actor famous for his cultural accomplishments as well as for his political activism; Judge Robert Terrell, who served as one of the first municipal court judges in Washington, D.C., and his wife, Dr. Mary Church Terrell, one of the first African American women to earn a college degree, who became known nationally as an activist for civil rights and women’s suffrage; Booker T. Washington, author, educator, orator, and advisor to U.S. presidents; Robert Weaver, who served as the first African American appointed to a cabinet position in the federal government as the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; W.E.B. Du Bois, sociologist, historian, civil rights activist, and author; Paul Laurence Dunbar, poet, novelist, and playwright; Langston Hughes, poet, social activist, novelist, and columnist; E. Franklin Frazier, sociologist and author of the books The Negro Family in the United States (1939), and Black Bourgeoisie (1957); and later, author Alex Haley, perhaps most famously known for his ground-breaking book Roots: The Saga of an American Family (1976), that became a national sensation as a television production.

When Highland Beach was incorporated in 1922, it became the first African American municipality in Maryland.  It is also believed to be the first African American summer resort in the United States. Although founded as a summer resort, it is now a town of both summer and year-round residents who choose not to permit commercial establishments.  There are approximately 80 homes, many of them still owned and occupied by descendants of the original settlers.  The residents are proud and protective of their town's heritage, established by proud and successful people determined to overcome the prejudices of their post-Reconstruction times. Highland Beach is the home of Twin Oaks, which now serves as the Frederick Douglass Museum and Cultural Center, Inc.

Highland Beach is bordered on the north by Black Walnut Creek and the community of Bay Ridge, on the east by the Chesapeake Bay, and on the south by Oyster Creek and the community of Venice Beach. 

Highland Beach is residential only, does not offer opportunities for tourism and cannot accommodate visits from the general public.
