Where are we working???

Like the title says, what sectors/jobs are we thriving in?

I’m trying desperately to make a career switch after intense burnout and it’s hard. My burnout is from my last job that I was laid off from and other life circumstances.

I’ve also been struggling since graduating college (almost 10 years ago) with so much mental health stuff that’s brought me here. Two therapists believe I’m ADHD inattentive-type and my son was recently diagnosed with autism (which I’ve been questioning for myself for a looong time). Can’t afford to get assessed just yet, but I love this community and relate to so many of you wonderful people.

I’ve worked in some toxic offices, I’m in the commercial interior design/architecture sphere, and it’s exhausting. I love the creative side of things and hate the project management part. Switching brains is so difficult throughout the day, sometimes minute to minute and it’s like doing 3 separate jobs but getting paid for 1. And there are just terrible coworkers/managers out there in this field that like to push the “I went through hell, so you have to too” mentality. And this sector is known for some intense office politics which is impossible for me to understand. I just don’t thrive in that, hence the switch. Currently working freelance part time with an old boss on some projects, but it’s just not enough. I’m so unhappy.

Now over a year out from being laid off I’m starting to wonder if I’m just too detached or maybe I’m still in burnout. So I wanted to poll this subreddit for fun and to possibly give me some inspiration.

Where do you work and what do you love/hate about your job?

Just as the title says, our little guy is the best eater in his class at daycare as we’re told and will have seconds and thirds of lunch often. He usually eats his breakfast there too, plus a banana and milk in the morning before heading over.

But at home, it’s the complete opposite. He will only eat chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, bread, and any kind of fruit. He also only eats half of what I give him, sometimes less, even if they’re his “safe” foods. He used to eat and try a ton of new things but just doesn’t anymore and I can’t figure it out. I make dinner almost every night and there’s a variety of things, just like at their school. I don’t make anything spicy or overly spiced because I know that can overwhelm younger palates, but I make sure things aren’t bland for him either. I’m hoping it’s just a funny phase.

Are other parents experiencing this as well? We’re thinking he “experiments” at school but has his comfort foods here. And maybe he’s more distracted at home with his toys than at school? We eat at the dining table every evening and for lunch. It’s just strange to me! He used to be so adventurous!
