I’m looking for a modern military shooter that’s basically X Com without aliens. I love the strategy, planning, loadout management, and leveling, but all the games I tend to prefer have a grounded recent past to near future military setting. I’m strictly an Xbox gamer these days also

A while ago there was a mobile game that nailed this aesthetic/subgenre and if anyone could remind me of its name I’d be really grateful. It was a top down shooter that had a heavy focus on gear/equipment

When I first started playing delta force I kept chuckling about people on the delta subreddits talking about their “homeowners associations” and my brain has now played enough delta force operations mode where every time I see HOA in real life I think Heart of Africa first.

I just got an email titled “changes to your HOA” and I got excited that they were updating the badge or the display in the base…no, someone named Karen wants more money from me to yell at me more effectively about how often I leave my garage door open.

For non USA players confused by this: homeowners associations (HOAs) are privately ran micro-governments within many neighborhoods in the US where nosey people make rules for each other about what people can or can’t do with their houses in the spirit of keeping the neighborhood “looking nice”
