The Most Annoyingly Realistic Part

The insurance payment you receive after a fire is, in my opinion, the most annoyingly realistic part of the game. It's generally less than 1/3 of the replacement cost of anything destroyed, and if it was a fridge or anything else that contained other items, the payment doesn't cover the contents at all. That is far more IRL than it should be.

Opinions? What brings the realism a bit too harshly for you?

I was today years old when...

I am looking for great (or odd) discoveries you made while using a mod that aren't advertised and not well known. Like easter eggs or bonus features that showed up during gameplay.

For example: I was today years old when I learned that whatever happens in secret lots, stays in secret lots. Any lots/worlds that don't normally spawn random sims will also not spawn cops for things like murder (Sacrificial mods) or drugs (Basemental mods), because there are no witnesses there to call them. Forgotten Grotto, Sylvan Glade, and Sixam are all totally lawless realms.

The same may also be true for other non-map locations, but I haven't checked which ones. The jungle is probably fine (Basemental has a big-time dealer you can meet there), and I'm sure Ben D. Ronkers is no snitch. The Granite Falls hermit might call for help though.
