Buying skates used?

I want to buy my first pair of skates because I've just been using rentals (I think the rentals at my rink are a little higher quality than the ones everyone talks about, but ik actual skates will be infinitely better), but skates are EXPENSIVE and I nor my parents have that kind of money right now, especially because i dont't even know if i'm gonna stick with this.

But like can I buy used skates off of Facebook marketplace or something? And what size will I need if I wear a size 6-7 in regular shoes??

Thanks!

finally learned how to spin !!

i go to public skate sessions once or twice a week, and i started about a month ago. the last time i went skating i was trying for the whole two hours, basically, to spin around backwards to start learning how to skate backwards and stuff. i was with my dad and he was teaching me in a really weird way that i've never seen skaters do (in his defense, he mainly does roller skating), but just could not get it and got really frustrated with myself and started crying.

but i went the other day and finally learned how to spin around on my rocker!!! :D i even went backwards a little!! my main goal for skating right now is to learn how to do backwards crossovers so that's why i've been wanting to learn how to go backwards lol.

but uh yeah i'm just really proud of myself!!

How to be more fluid

I posted on here yesterday about wanting to start skating. I know it's early to think about lol, but I eventually want to do competitions and stuff. The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that my movements and body aren't fluid or smooth at all, if that makes sense, and I feel like it's going to make it look bad. I'm always so tense, and I need/want to know how to try and fix that. Because I've tried just relaxing and it doesn't really work. So idk

Hi! New to skating...

Hi! I'm 15 and I love Alysa Liu and I've gotten inspired and want to try figure skating (or even just basic ice skating for now). I've never even ice skated once in my life, but I really want to learn! I'm open to any advice or tips you guys have for just starting out! Where do I get skates, what are good brands, am I too old to start, etc.

I want to learn whatever I can! Thanks!!

Hi! New to skating...

I'm not sure if I used the right flair, sorry if I did lol. I'm also not sure if this is just a subreddit for fans of figure skaters and not actual figure skaters are on here...

Suppressing tics and yawning

I have motor tics and I've found that if I try to suppress my tics I eventually end up yawning. Does this happen to anyone else? Thanks!
