What if the Inner / Outer Circle Lines still existed today? + Line Naming Scheme

High Quality PDF Version if image if blurry

https://drive.google.com/file/d/18u1_5CXxxMEeJXdhV4PD-tiy9juEHwWh/view?usp=sharing

Ive lived along the inner circle line and have always wondered what it would be like if both the inner and outer circle lines had survived through to today! obviously i cant make them irl so i decided to map them out on our current/future train network map!

One of the major network changes that i made as a result of adding these lines is the removal of SRL east. Due to there being a pre existing orbital line in the eastern suburbs in the form of the Outer Circle line, i could definitely see a case where the government would prioritise the north first giving them orbital rail access for the first time, rather than adding a second orbital rail line in the east first.

Plus also, there has been a lot of talk about the naming of different lines so i thought i was share my interpretation of how it could work on here as well!

Hope you like it!!

Also sorry if there are any mistakes haha!

aircraft interior photos question

Hey there everyone, Currently i am trying to figure out the tail number for one of my flights in 2008, but i am unsure of the airline. I currently have a photo of me on that flight but the only key recognisable features are the window shape, which is the retro boeing square ish shape.

In order to solve this, i was wondering if anyone had any photos from inside either a Virgin Blue 737-700 or Qantas 767-300, particularly towards the back of the cabin as i am pictured being seated in front of a bulkhead, so i am presumably at the back. Hope you can help!!

Bit of interesting info regarding the G Class Tram's entry into service for those who didn't make it to the first services

i was watching the Max Productions video for the first full run into service and overheard a few things of note from who i presume is a member of the G Class Tram team (or i think is potentially Schony747 as i think i recognise his voice!)

First thing of note is that for the initial roll out of the G Class trams, the first 12 of them will enter service on the route 59, once that has been reached they will gradually be added to the 57 and then the 82 (10:21 mark) before then heading on to the route 12 (8:37 mark)

also, not sure if its widely known, but stop 45 at glass street on the 59 will be rebuilt to be a platform stop at some point in the next few years. (7:00 mark)

hope this helps!

Early Proposals for Tram Network Changes Post MM1 on a full tram map!

So this is a follow up post to my previous one on the base map of the entire tram network that i made that includes every single stop

If the image is low quality, heres the PDF link

Anyways, this map was largely inspired by a philip mallis video which showed what a potential route network could look post MM1. I find it quite interesting as all of these changes only require very small network alterations and take advantage of existing terminating facilities.

So here are the changes

Route 5 - Breaks off at Anzac, follows route 58, uses a new park st link to join route 1, the joints route 12 all the way along spencer st using the existing single track terminating spot

Route 19 - Turns onto flinders st to terminate at jolimont station, uses the existing double track tunrback to terminate

Route 57 - Turns onto flinders st then batman avenue to terminate at john cain arena, using the existing centre track turnback to terminate

Route 59 - Turns onto flinders st to terminate at jolimont station, uses the existing double track tunrback to terminate

Route 64 - breaks off existing route at Anzac station, follows route 58 all the way along kings way and william st to terminate a flagstaff gardens/QVM using the existing turnback. (although a second cross over track could be added to allow terminating in both tracks)

Hope you guys like it and let me know what you think of these initially proposed changes!

Fantasy ish Tram Map

Once again, if the quality is bad or images dont load for being too large, heres a pdf version

Post MM1 Proposals with Arden Extensions (Image 2)

Ok, so basically this is a follow up from the map that i posted last night. I thought it would be cool to see what our tram network could have looked like if all of the initial metro tunnel changes actually materialised.

A link to a video explaining what these changes are us here

Once i added those in, with all the recent changes made to the network along victoria st to better allow for trams to arden, i though i would look into if there had been any proposals for potential routes, and found this, which is a very vague document, but outlines a rough idea for extensions in the arden station area. Seen on page 124 here:

Here are the new routes as a result of the changes before the arden extensions

Route 5 - branches off at Anzac, follows route 58 to park st, joins route 1 then joins route 12 and continues along spencer st to existing turnback facility at latrobe st to terminate

Route 19 - Extends from elizabeth st, along flinders st to the jolimont station platform stop, using the existing double track turnback facilities to terminate

Route 57 - Extends from elizabeth st, along flinders st, down batman avenue to the John Cain arena stop, using the existing central turn back track to terminate

Route 59 - Extends from elizabeth st, along flinders st to the jolimont station platform stop, using the existing double track turnback facilities to terminate

Route 64 - Branches off at Anzac to follow the route 58 untill QVM, using the existing turnback, sidings to terminate (although would probably need a rebuild to extend them slightly and add a second cross over track)

Here are the new routes as a result of the changes including the arden extensions

Route 5 - continues along spencer st, turns on to hawke st the adderley st to access nth melb station, runs under dynon rd bridge to access arden station, then continues fogarty rd, macaulay rd, then boundry rd to terminus

Route 72 - Branches off swanston st at vic st, using new tracks, follows 57 to arden st, then turns onto arden st and terminates shortly later.

Obviously these are just representations of proposals and what others have said, so its just a rough idea, but hope you guys like it!!

also side not i missed changing the route description for route 19 on the map itself so ignore that, plus any other mistakes lmk!!

Full Melbourne Tram Map with (what i think to be) EVERY stop

PDF version here if it comes out low quality on the post

https://drive.google.com/file/d/13FGbz0QSNP_KrcK4KywTl2FXhkjFefjH/view?usp=sharing

seriously this map has legit taken me forever!!!

i recon ive began drawing out the lines mid last year and just couldnt bring my self to write out every stop untill a few weeks ago. Basically what ive done is just replicate the tram map but with every single stop, trying to keep a somewhat similar design to my pervious train maps, but it did end up changing over time.

In the future, which should be soon as ive already completed the current day map, i am probably going to make modifications, such as adding in the route changes that were proposed to occur for the metro tunnel (here) as well as ones such as an arden tram extension as well as the recent Fishermans bend proposal (which i personally dont think to be that good as it funnels all the lines down to Clarendon st junction)

anyways, if you spot any mistakes please let me know and if you have any suggestions for proposals to potentially add, let me know and i might add them!!

hopefully you guys like it as i spent a damn long time on it lmao!

Why does south melbourne tram stop have 4 platforms?

Ive always wondered why they it has two platforms on either side. Was it built like this for any specific reason. It seems to be quite restrictive as the platforms are just big enough to fit in our longest trams, with in my experience, the front single door of the C2 and D2s being blocked by the fence to the ramp somewhat often

Wrong connection information

I wanted to check out how this new transfer system works as I have no more connecting flights for the rest of the year, so I put in MEL to HNL via SYD as that was my last trip, and it comes up suggesting the wrong process.

This is a Qantas to Qantas transfer, meaning that without exiting the terminal, you can head to gate 15 and take the designated Qantas bus to the international terminal where you clear security, saving a decent amount of time on your connection, but rather it suggest you leave T3 entirely, walk to find the T bus and use that, which while possible, takes longer putting you at greater risk of missing your flights as Qantas sells flights with shorter layovers than other airlines domestic to international transfers as they have this system.

And again on the way back, it suggests that you collect your bags, leave the terminal, get the T bus and check them back in when you get to T3. Once again this is wrong as at the other end of the Qantas bus, the international terminal has a designated domestic transfers bag drop and security, which once you pass through that you are dropped right back into gate 15 at the domestic T3.

Overall this may seem very confusing and all the details may not really matter a whole lot, but the fact is that if we are suggesting transfer routes to ensure that you make a connection, they cannot be wrong, making me worry that based off of this case, there may be many more wrong suggestions.

Master Style Guide

hey there, a while back i remember stumbling across a long document (pdf) which outlined all of the new style of signage designs etc... and was wondering if anyone on here potentially has it and could share a link to it.

I have managed to find the colour section of it, but was wondering if anyone had the full document. Thanks!!

Timeline for Tap and Go payments for Trams and Busses + in non myki enabled areas

As mentioned in this video, it seems like they will begin to rollout tap and go on busses and trams gradually in the next few months, whilst non myki enabled areas will receive tap and go (and hopefully/potentially myki) by starring from the end of this year

Whats the reason for this half up half down level crossing between Warragul and Drouin

Ive seen it many times and have always wondered why the southern track passed under the road in a trench and underpass, whilst the northern track remained at grade. If you know please lmk!!

Metro Tunnel 3 Concept - Rest Based off of 2018 Network Dev Plan

If its blurry, heres a link to it https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iVi8VETmYtDrJfwqIY-4fBP0hfzY7JoO/view?usp=sharing

Let me know what you guys think. Ive edited it to fix (hopefully) all of my errors.

Link to my previous post explaining everything is here

As for the MM3 concept, i would assume that, similar to SRL, it would be an automated metro, hence why have classified it under metro. I have used a reddit concept for it to get the locations of stations, but let me know if i should change anything!!

As for the SRL stations, i have changed most of their names to something different to the stations that they connect to, following the conventions set by the metro tunnel. (Except for gowrie or broadmeadows as i didn't know what to change it to haha)

Also, any errors you find let me know! Thanks!
