For those who love the controller: what's your biggest pet peeve with it?

Mine is how close the right analog stick is to the face buttons. Sometimes when I'm pressing X, I end up pressing the side of the right analog stick :T

Goodbye, Dualsense Edge

The controller that got SO CLOSE to be the perfect controller for me: Back buttons (I wish there were four, but two is fine), quality gyroscope and full steam input support.

But then, it happened. The stick drift. I even bought another stick module, which after 3 months it also got stick drift. 3 months!!! Holy shit, how is that acceptable in any way?

Thank you Valve, for the Steam Controller! Now my dualsense edge can hold the door for me.

How I got my steam controller in Brazil

I don't have friends/family in the US (or any country that the controller is available). Here's how I got my steam controller, how long it took and how much I spent. A table with every event, date/time and price is available at the end of the post.

I used a VPN to get the reservation button to pop up, and then used it again when it was time to buy the controller. I used my main account to do so, which was risky, I know. It's against TOS to use VPN to buy anything on steam. But I wanted to believe it wouldn't end up bad for me, and it actually paid out!

When I first logged in using a VPN, steam asked me if I was in another country or if I was using a VPN. I actually don't remember which option I picked (sorry). Then I had to put a random game in my cart, and in the cart I could change the currency to US dolars. Then it finally worked: the reservation button was there!

Between the reservation and me actually buying the thing, I didn't use the VPN. That didn't cancel my reservation or anything, thankfully. I even bought some games in my currency while waiting for the e-mail!

Then I received the long-awaited e-mail. It's funny because it took so long that the night before I received it, I gave up and actually bought one from a scalper. I know it sucks and it's wrong, but I wanted this controller SO BAD. I cancelled the ebay order, of course, and bought it on steam.

Because they don't ship the controller to Brazil, I had to use a package forwarding service: US Closer. They give you an address in the US for you to send your stuff to, and then you ask them to send it to you. Really useful in this case.

They weighted the controller and gave me the shipping options. I chose Packet Express, because it seemed like an obvious choice: it was one of the cheapest and fastest options. I had two more options for couriers, but I had some bad experiences with UPS in the past.

After one more week of waiting, I received the controller! So here's the summary:

When (BRT) What How much ($) How much (R$)
08/05/2026 14:01 I made the reservation -
13/06/2026 02:31 Received the e-mail -
13/06/2026 09:24 I bought the controller $105.44 (tax included) R$576.87 (aprox)
14/06/2026 16:30 Received the tracking code from steam -
17/06/2026 15:44 UsCloser received the controller -
17/06/2026 16:04 I paid UsCloser shipping $49.97 R$267.30
19/06/2026 15:32 Brazil Postal Service (Correios) started emitting tracking info -
22/06/2026 10:30 The controller arrived in Brasil -
24/06/2026 12:10 I was notified that I had to pay the customs fee -
24/06/2026 13:38 I paid the customs fee - R$477.23
25/06/2026 11:43 The controller left the international center of whateverthef*ck -
26/06/2026 16:49 I finally have the controller -

Total spent: R$ 1321.40 (around $255)
How long it took (from the day that I bought the controller): 13 days

Yeah, it's expensive af to bring this thing to Brazil without help. Thanks Valve.
Silver lining: it would be more expensive buying from a scalper. At the time they were selling at R$ 830 minimum (the controller is around R$ 550), and then I'd had to pay for the customs fee, that almost doubles the price of the controller. Nowadays they're selling for R$1200 minimum.

If I buy the Steam Frame, I'll look for alternatives. Maybe it's possible for me to GO to the US just to get the headset and come back.

Also: My steam got locked to US currency for three months when I bought the controller.

Also also: Funny to think that it took more than a month for Valve to fulfil the first 2 minutes of reservations, and in the last two weeks that I'm waiting for the shipping, they're already fulfilling the __:39 minute mark. I know it's not even the first hour, but I think it's gonna get exponentially faster.
