Stainless steel sinks

A local school is doing a summer upgrade. There’s 6 or seven old Elkay Lustertone sinks in the construction roll off. Worth the ask to take these out?

Spray to discourage chipmunks?

Is there a spray mix that repels gophers/ chipmunks? I have a lot of dill I let go to seed and propagate. It is primarily for Tiger Swallowtail butterflies, and the occasional salad/ dressing. I keep chicken wire fencing around anything we want to survive the annual rabbit population explosion. This year we have striped gophers that are getting through the fencing and have acquired a taste for dill. They have chewed down almost all of the dill. I just tried Castor Oil, but it doesn’t seem to be effective. Thanks for any advice.

The Monarchs are back!

Please contact your local township, city or county park and highway departments to ask for minimizing habitat mowing and weed whacking for the next 6-8 weeks. The Monarch butterflies you see in Minnesota now are the parent generation of the Super Generation.
The eggs being laid on milkweed across the state now will become the migratory butterflies that will fly to mountain forests of Mexico this fall. There is no “later” time for Every single milkweed plant is critical habitat. Request they mow the road edges only, leaving some of the ditch bank and bottoms for native plants. The roadsides are publicly owned habitat- not improved by mowing edge to edge for that golf course look. Taxpayers will save millions in reduced fuel, equipment costs and labor costs by reducing mowing intervals.

Loss of ash trees - Effects on wildlife?

There are thousands of mature ash trees being cut down due to emerald ash borer infestation; and millions more standing dead in rural areas. What will be the long term effects to wildlife? Thinking of birds, squirrels, butterflies, insects. A squirrel mom started bringing her 4 young ones to our yard to feed on dropped sunflower seeds from bird feeders. On this one block in a mid sized town over 50% of trees have been cut down in the past year or are dead and will be gone within another year or two.
