My medication stopped working and I'm feeling really hopeless

In December 2025, I started Fludrocortisone and experienced FIVE MONTHS!!!! without any crashes, any symptoms other than slight lightheadedness occasionally which would pretty much immediately go away and cause no negative side effects.

In May 2026, it just stopped working like a switch. I spent three years before my medication in and out of doctor's appointments because of debilitating symptoms that pushed me out of University and completely uprooted my life. I couldn't do anything without having a severe crash and becoming bedbound. I had a table tilt test FINALLY in 2025, and a few months later started the medication that solved all of the issues.

After nearly half a year of relief, they're all back. I am devastated. My doctor tried increasing the dosage, and it hasn't worked at all. I'm back where I was. My birthday was three days ago and I've aged into yet another year of not living my life. I feel pathetic, like a burden again and like my life is just dripping away. I'm in pain all the time, I'm light headed whenever I walk, I can't eat a morsel of food without feeling incredibly full, sick and incredibly dizzy. I can't walk or move after I eat. My whole body overheats, I am exhausted and so so so sad.

I can't explain my symptoms to anyone because it feels pathetic. I feel like a horrible partner. I am scared stiff of the future because I want more than anything to be a teacher and it's feeling more and more impossible. I can't even move

I need help. I want to live my life again. Salt and water is not enough it's not helping me. I want to go outside, go on walks, have adventures. I want to stop dripping negativity into every conversation I have. My partner asks how I am and the answer is either 'sad and unwell' (understatement of the century) or I just lie and say I'm fine because I don't wanna be complaining about it yet again. But I don't want to be stuck in bed watching days melt into each other not really feeling any difference between them.

I can't do anything for myself. I don't think anyone in my life understands the pain of not being able to get up and cook a meal for myself. I don't know how to ask for help with my basic needs. I'm supposed to be living with my partner in two months, and I don't want to be unable to cook, clean, get myself water, shower myself, or have any kind of fun with her. I don't want to have to ask her for help with every basic need, she shouldn't have to do that. I feel so sad and hopeless. I'm really really tired of feeling like this. I just want to talk to people that understand or can help

TLDR: Fludrocortisone stopped working suddenly, and my debilitating symptoms are back. It's making me feel hopeless and lost
