Custom notched gate to clear an existing block wall

Couldn’t use a standard frame on this one. The opening had a block wall taking up part of the bottom, and the homeowner didn’t want it touched.

Built the gate with a stepped lower section so it closes right over the wall with a clean fit. Aluminum frame, mitered corners, wood-grain panels.

Last photos show the detail at the notch. Open to questions on how it was framed.

Before you settle for a standard gate, check what’s in the way

This entrance had a block wall partly blocking the opening. Instead of working around it with a basic gate, we built one shaped to fit the space.

Wood look to match the fence, black frame to tie in with the trim. It looks like it was always part of the house.

What do you think, does the shape work or would you keep it simple?
