[Release] Hexwood – a short horror maze adventure: survive the woods, free your soul (PICO-8)

Hey lovely PICO-8 Community,

Hexwood is a short horror maze game. Find your way through the haunted woods, outwit the creatures lurking within, and free a restless soul.

It`s something I call a coffee-break game: easy to pick up and play, with plenty of arcade fun and challenge. It takes only a coffee break to play. Like the good old once on the ATARI VCS.

This is the first game I’ve finished, and I’m excited (and a little nervous) to share it. I’d love to hear what you think—feedback is very welcome! And of cource we need to know: how long did it take you to find your way through Hexwood wanderer.

Play it for free here:

Is it worth the grind?

Hey lovely people,

I make it short. Main question already at the header. I really like the game. Enjoyed that I can pick it up for short sessions and put it back again. I also like the little story's and the background of every Character. Finished everybody's chapter 1 right now. And now it looks like I am highly under level for chapter two. The fact that I have to level up every char makes it feel like work for me. I really like the game, I want to like it any further but I hate the unnecessary grind.

What do you say? What are your Tipps for grinding places and where to start chapter 2? Or do you say: if it feels like work at the moment put it down and grab another game?

Thankful for any thoughts.
