Some advice needed
Long and short looking to purchase my first amp in 15 or so years.
In an ideal world i want a 6505/6505+ but i don’t have 1k plus to shell out on one right now and the 120w may be a little bit overkill.
I have found something that may be a great option for me
The story is it is a 6505+ 112 combo 60w that has been modded to remove the speaker element and turn it into its own stand alone head.
Would there be any immediate red flags for this would there be a reason someone would do this (aside from aesthetic reasons as we all know how the prowess of the head and cab looks as opposed to a small combo looks)
In the sellers words “ the speaker that came in the combo was notoriously bad hence the modification”
Would you not just run the amp into a 412 cab instead?
Is this a modification that others have done?
My main concern is that would this hugely affect the tonal qualities?
