After a lots of ups and downs for the first 2 months. I had glimpses of aha moments and now since it has stabilised, i just feel dull and exhausted. No sex drive, no joy no sadness. Did somebody went through this and did it got better?
Hey everyone, I’m completely new to espresso and trying to dial in my setup:
Breville Bambino Plus
Varia VS3 grinder
Single wall double basket
Usually dosing 18g
At grinder setting 2, the machine was basically choking and almost nothing came out.
Then I tried setting 7 and the shot ran way too fast — around 12 seconds.
Now I’m trying to find the sweet spot in between, but I’m still only getting around 20–22g espresso out from 18g coffee unless I go really coarse.
Today I also tried lowering the dose to 12g just to
experiment, but the machine still stops pouring after around 10–12 seconds every time. Is that normal for the Bambino Plus or am I doing something wrong?
A few questions:
What VS3 grind setting are Bambino Plus users usually around for espresso?
Should I always target 36g out from 18g in?
Could I be tamping too hard?
Does the Bambino automatically stop shots too early sometimes?
Any beginner mistakes I should check for?
Using fresh beans roasted around 2 weeks ago.
Would really appreciate any advice because I haven’t pulled a proper shot yet 😅

Looking to buy DF54 or Similar. All I can get at JBs or Good Guys are Breville, sunbeam, etc. I would buy online but I would prefer to see the machine infont before I make a decision. TIA!
