stupid question but tests???

Do premeds need a CASPER or PREview or whatever these tests are? what are they? I didn't even know there was other tests needed other than the MCAT and I'm so lost. Is this required for all schools or only particular schools?

Housing issue

Hi, I'm the one who marked off-campus housing on the SIR and then wanted on-campus housing T-T

So I got assigned to Stevenson and submitted an appeal for Cowell due to Stevenson's extra course requirement but I also now have to appeal for on-campus housing. If my appeal gets accepted would I be living in Stevenson with Cowell affiliation? Like how would that play out and has anyone been in my shoes before?

I appealed because I got admitted for biomolecular eng but I'm intending premed and one extra course is still a hassle to deal with since I have to take more courses for med school requirements anyways

I think I have the biggest regret over not planning properly to enter high school. I go to an okay public school with okay resources, but I didn't know how big a deal high school was, or that I should've started research and other stuff during middle school when we had covid instead of watching movies or building puzzle sets and being a "bum." And then when I had family stuff that affected me, instead of trying my best, I quite literally gave up on myself and my college admissions thinking I would not go anywhere just because I messed up a semester. Had I just pushed through, I could've been in a much better place for admissions than now. I could've figured out what I wanted to do properly, but instead I went with all the kids wanting to be engineers and cs majors with years of coding experience or research paper or whatever the hell and now that I actually know what I want to do, in freaking senior year of hs, I feel so behind. What was the point of going to a good public school if I couldn't make the most of it and kept giving up on myself instead? I feel so guilty towards my parents, who moved from a super poor country and started from scratch, just to have their kid not maximize resources and go farther. I just feel stupid. Now I'm scrambling to get my grades up and graduate so I can move on with my life and make the best of the state uni I'm going to. I just feel regretful that I could've been somewhere completely different now.

I dont have good AP scores in literature, government, calc bc, and physics c/e&m and I was wondering if they are even necessary (biomolecular engineering major).

Hello! Due to finances, I've given up Purdue, UCSC, UCR, CWRU, UPitt, SJSU, and UCM as undergrad choices and am now going to my local cc in the bay.

However, I really want to apply for medical school in 4 years, and part of applying to med school is being good at research and participating in research during undergrad.

I know this will be particularly difficult for me given that my CC doesnt have affiliated research, but I was wondering how I can still participate in research. I am close to San Jose State and Stanford and UCSC but I'm unsure how this would also factor into getting research opportunities. Please give any advice, it's so very much appreciated and thank you!

hi highlanders! i'm so grateful to have been accepted for bioengineering!

the problem is im deciding between ucr, ucsc, and community college->transfer after narrowing it down (i had pitt/purdue/uminn/emory as options but they are way too expensive for me and im a cali resident).

I'm going premed but I didn't do anything premed-related in high school so I'm a bit worried. I was wondering how strong the premed support is and if people are able to get unique letters of rec. I also know riverside is a huge school so i was wondering how that affected your gpa/academics as a premed! is it easier to get research in the area of medicine you want? are there biotech opportunities in the summer nearby?
