No thoughts, just stomping our feet and doing this silly little dance

We were filming a little promo video for our puppet theater performance, and somehow this happened. 😂

No choreography. No explanation. Just vibes.
Japanese string puppetry meets… whatever this dance is. 🤣

Beef Bone Ramen from Kikanbo (鬼金棒) Lab, Tokyo

I ordered the beef bone ramen with extra cilantro and ajitama.

Super creamy and rich, especially for beef bone ramen!
You can change up the flavor with the table seasonings.
The extra Sichuan oil is highly recommended!

A giant oni steps on a samurai… then cries after being scolded by his mother 😂

A scene from a Japanese puppet theater production.
The oni grows huge, steps on a samurai, and then starts crying after his mother scolds him.

The tear mechanism didn’t quite work as planned, though… so he ended up crying with just one eye. 😂

This is Ningyo Joruri, traditional Japanese puppet theater, featuring live Jōruri narration, shamisen music, and traditional Japanese theater musicians.
Even when things don’t go perfectly, the puppets keep going! 🎭

A Princess from Issun-bōshi — Japanese String Puppet

This is the princess from Issun-bōshi, a traditional Japanese folk tale.

Fun fact: there’s actually a tiny Issun-bōshi (about 3 cm / 1.2 inches, which is what “issun” means) inside the bowl! 👀

The Three Companions of Momotaro

These are the three animal companions from the famous Japanese folktale Momotaro: a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant.

They join Momotaro on his journey to Onigashima (Demon Island), where they fight the demons together.

These are traditional Japanese string puppets from Isshiza, a traditional Japanese string puppet theatre company in Tokyo, Japan.

A big puppet doing… absolutely nothing important, but doing it with style

This big guy is literally just sitting and wiggling his hands and head… and somehow it still looks dramatic.
