Duplicate Stitch problems

I am doing a design in duplicate stitch for the first time and I am getting the same problem through all my tries.

Whenever I try to do the duplicate stitch design it is starting to bulge downwards a lot. It creates this Valley effect that I don't think will block out.

The base of sweater is made in Sandnes Kos, a blown yarn, and this sweater is recommended to knit in a blown yarn .

For the duplicate Stitch I have tried several different yarns I have at home. Everything from a heavier blown yarn to the combination I have more (lighter DK + mohair).

I have tried to do the stitches loosely, and tighter. In the picture it is tighter, but the result have looked the same whether they are looser or tighter.

If I use a much thinner yarn the green starts to poke through a lot which I don't think looks good either.

Is it a tension problem? Is it a yarn problem? A combination?

Finished my Marielle Blouse just in time for my birthday yesterday 😍

Did not get any good pictures of me wearing it yesterday since we had to hurry to the theatre, but so I am so happy I managed to finish my Marielle Blouse by Marias Verden https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/marielle-blouse just before my birthday!

Yarn is Knitting for Olive Merino in Cherry Blossom held with CaMaRose Midnattsol in Candyfloss

I am making the Marielle blouse, and I have both the old pattern and the new revised pattern on my phone.

When starting the sleeves I happened to look at the old pattern and misread where to start the lace chart. In the revised pattern there is a clarification that the ladder lace should line up with the body's ladder lace underneath the sleeve.

Since I missed to check the updated pattern and misread the instructions, I just started knitting away on the lace pattern not at all thinking about the alignment.

Now I just finished the sleeve, and noticed whole looking at others finished projects that my lace pattern is misaligned under the sleeve. It is probably 2-3 weeks of work here because I currently don't have as much time to knit. The misalignment is as shown , under the sleeves so I guess noone is really gonna see it , but I am also no annoyed that I did not catch this earlier.

Edit: Thank you all for the input. Sometimes I need to hear from others that I am being unreasonable 😅
