Do people really bid higher than the listing?
My home is set to be listed in ten days. Across a lot of sites, metrics, maps, etc it has median value between 345k - 360k. The realtor is asking 5%.
He pitched me to list at $349,900. After commission and closing (ballpark 20k), I can net $329k yet he said we can likely “hit higher.” I asked what he meant and he told me that a lot of times, people bid higher than the asking price but to me ( first time seller) this seems strange to me.
Do people really bid higher than listings? Is it really that common?
