here is the beauty of Canada 🇨🇦

Really beautiful area, will try to go there every summer
Last summer I went to the same area different camp site though and this summer also same area.
Worth visiting 100%, very quiet. The waterfalls is crazy. Sleeping next to the sound of the waterfall is unbelievable.
You don’t have to book.
The nearest gas station is like 40mins.
There is another campgrounds there the one that I went last year has a really cool place to swim a big lake.
Stayed there 3 days

Camping recommendations near Calgary?

Hey everyone! My friend and I are planning to head out camping tomorrow after work, around 5 PM, from Calgary. We’re looking for a nice campground with a lake nearby where we can swim, and some hiking trails would be a huge bonus.
Last time we camped near Golden, BC, and absolutely loved it, so we’re hoping to find somewhere with a similar vibe.
Also, do we need to make a reservation for most campgrounds, or are there good first-come, first-served options? If reservations are needed, what’s the easiest way to book?
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Looking for a public place to watch the Canada game tomorrow

Anyone know of a public place in Calgary to watch the Canada game tomorrow? I’m bringing my Canada flag 🇨🇦 and just want to be around other fans and cheer on the team. Not looking for a bar, thinking a plaza, park, or outdoor watch party.
Go Canada! 🍁⚽

Solo Camping Night + Weekend Camping Trip Suggestions? Alberta Calgary

Hey everyone,
I’ve got a long weekend coming up and I’m looking for some camping ideas.
I’m thinking of finishing work around 5 PM on July 2 and heading out somewhere close to Calgary for a solo camping night. I’ve never really camped by myself before, so I thought it would be nice to try it for one night, cook some food, relax, and enjoy the outdoors.
The next day I’ll come back, pick up my friend after work, and head out again for the rest of the weekend until Sunday evening.
I’m looking for a good spot for the solo night, and then another place for the weekend with my friend. It would be great if there’s a lake nearby where we can swim.
Last time we went to Golden, BC and really enjoyed it, especially having the lake there.
Any recommendations? Also, what do you think of the plan? Any tips for a first solo camping trip would be appreciated.

Cenovus Internship (Calgary) – When should I expect a reply after the one-way interview?

Hey everyone,

For anyone who has gone through the Cenovus internship hiring process before, how long did it take to hear back after completing the one-way interview? Just trying to get an idea of the timeline.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if CNRL hires engineering interns or co-op students for fall positions? If so, when do applications typically open? Thanks!

25 y/o investor, portfolio review and advice?

Hey everyone,
Just sharing my portfolio and looking for some opinions.
I’m 25 and currently doing my master’s (student loan but not too bad). Main goal right now is to get into engineering because honestly I’m tired of working in the trades, which is why I’m doing my MEng and trying to land an internship this summer or fall in Alberta or wherever.
Portfolio is a mix of stuff right now — some winners, some bad picks lol. Biggest positions are SPTE, SPUS, and IBIT. IBIT is showing red but I’m not actually down that much because I sold and bought back before, so the app makes it look worse.
I also have about $25K CAD sitting in the bank right now that I’m thinking about putting to work.
My rough idea was:
Put $15K into IBIT
Use the rest in my TFSA to buy more NVDA or add to positions I already have
Not sure if that makes sense though, especially at my age and with my goal to FIRE.
Would you hold, diversify more, or do something completely different?
Also just a note: the pictures with holding such as SPTE etc... USD, while Wealthsimple is CAD.
Any advice or comments appreciated, thanks.

Hey everyone,

I interviewed with IOC (Rio Tinto) for a summer role in Labrador City and it went really well. They said I’d hear back by Monday/Tuesday and even suggested I start looking for housing.

It’s now past that and I haven’t heard anything yet. Since housing there is limited, I’m a bit worried.

Is it normal for IOC to take longer than the timeline they give? Should I follow up now?

Thanks!
