This time, I'm giving you the chance to win a key for The Amusement (you can also play to win a key on QGO's Discord and Facebook groups).
I got to meet the team behind the game's development at the Laval Virtual show (Curvature and ARTE). The game is simply excellent and truly off the beaten path. It's a genuine work of art inspired by Art Deco, the likes of which you don't see very often.
You find yourself immersed in a 1920s amusement park, in the aftermath of World War I. You play as Samantha, searching for her memories and for the deep mystery surrounding the park.
The story, which promises plenty of twists, is cleverly narrated and staged through puppetry. The retro effect works beautifully, and the artistic touch is incredible. This is one of the finest productions currently available on Meta Quest.
But that's not all: the game stands out through its gameplay, designed for a 2 m x 2 m space — so, roomscale — built on impossible space and redirected walking mechanics. As a result, you'll physically walk for kilometers while staying within a single room. It's simply excellent. You don't move with a joystick, but for real. And the game's entire logic is built on this: its mechanics, its gameplay, and its verticality.
In short, it's a true artistic gem: a puzzle game with fun riddles, lovely storytelling, engaging gameplay, and a form of locomotion you rarely come across. The whole thing wraps up in just under 4 hours.
