Not burning holes in shutter curtain?
I’ve been shooting with leica cameras almost exclusively now for the last 10 years or so, and I unfortunately finally experienced the sun burning a hole in my shutter curtain. I always use a lens cap, but I was shooting actively. I was on a beach in the Mediterranean working on a project for about two hours. I was shooting a photo every 1 to 2 minutes and shot through about eight rolls of film.
Anyway, I am going back in two days to finish the story, but I’m really nervous about burning up another curtain. I have a back up for that body, but I don’t have second back up.. i’m quoted six months for this shutter curtain repair on my primary wide angle body, so I’m worried about being stuck with nothing to shoot.
Anyone have any advice? I’ve never had this happen in all these years and now I’m super panicked about it. Any thoughts, comments, advice and help are appreciated.
Thanks.
* for your enjoyment, a black paint Leica i upgraded to Leica iiia, heavily brassed, with a biogon clone. Shot on portra 160(?), can’t remember.
