It was a good ride with Fable - waiting for GPT 5.6

I am done for now. It was a good ride, and Fable is a really decent model. I believe that I realized all my ideas, so I will take a break until Tuesday. Let's hope that GPT-5.6 will appear and I will try it.

If the US keeps locking down its best AI models, China is going to eat their lunch (and I'll happily pay for it)

The American government is getting serious about restricting access to advanced AI. Short term I sort of get it. Long term I think they just handed China a gift.

The Chinese models are already close. Not "they'll catch up eventually" close. Right now close. In video generation a few of them are already past the best US model. So the obvious question: what happens when a Chinese lab ships something at Mythos level?

And it's going to happen. When it does, it'll be cheaper. Hard to be more expensive than Anthropic's Mythos, and I'd bet it lands under GPT too. If the quality is real, companies switch. Fast. Especially anyone burning money on coding, which is most of the industry right now.

Here's the part people skip. When companies switch, the money switches. A lot of that revenue flows to US labs today. Move the users and you move the cash flow to China.

AI progress runs on compute, and compute runs on money. So China suddenly has more to spend on bigger clusters, which buys better models, which pulls in more users. Investor money chases user money, it always has. The lead can flip.

What the US basically said is: this is the ceiling for now. Regular users don't get anything better unless you're one of a few approved companies. If China stays more open than that, they can take the whole thing.

I'm a user. I want the best model I can get. If it comes from China, fine. Whoever wins, end users win.

So China, your move. Ship it. I'll subscribe the same day it goes live, and I doubt I'll be the only one.

Gemini Omni - crazy censorship -> unusable model

I tried to generate a video using the new Google Gemini Omni model. But because of its censorship, it is completely unusable. I am not talking about some borderline cases, but about some basic prompts.

For example, my protagonist said, "You know my price. Have you brought it?" And it immediately flagged a censorship policy violation. (it was a discussion in the shop between the customer and the seller. That's all, nothing else) Okay, I removed this part from the film.

Then my next try was when the protagonist said, "They always want to ask... ask." (the same discussion in the shop between customer and seller. And again, nothing more) And again, it flagged a policy violation.

Come on. So then I gave up.

Guys from Google who set up censorship in your model, don't you think that you created something unusable for clients for the sake of your legal and compliance department?
