Does a thinning crown / male pattern baldness ruin your dating chances, even if you’re well-groomed?

Hey guys,

Following up on my recent thoughts about beauty and everyday public perceptions in KL, there's another topic on my mind that hits closer to home as I navigate dating in my late 30s.

We can't really change our natural skin shade, we're born with it. And most of us do what we can to keep our faces clean, skin healthy, and clothes neat so we feel good in a crowd.

But what happens when everything else is on point, except Top there at your Crown area... it's starting to look like an empty playground? 😅

For someone like me looking for serious, long-term relationships:

  1. How is a thinning crown honestly perceived in others' eyes here? Is it an immediate dealbreaker on apps or in person?
  2. For the guys dealing with it: How do you handle the hit to your self-esteem without constantly worrying about it when you walk into a room?
  3. For everyone else: Does hair density actually matter when you're looking for a genuine life partner, or is it just something we overthink in our own heads?

whether you've embraced the buzz cut, tried treatments, or have thoughts on how much "the crown" actually dictates attraction in Malaysia.

Does hair density really make or break attraction here, or are we just overthinking it?

Eh is the "lepak culture" vanished, or am I just getting older?

Is it just me, or our classic Kawasan Lepak completely disappeared around PJ and Shah Alam?

I’ve been buried in work and family life for a while, but lately, when I try to find a chill spot to just unwind, the vibe feels totally dead.
Everywhere is either a new high density housing development, a commercial lot, or a half empty mall.

Whatever happened to just hanging out at a park, a chill open-air spot, or a lowkey neighborhoods area to clear your head without needing to spend money at a fancy café?

Did the whole culture quietly shift online / into private spaces while I wasn't looking, or is this just the bitter truth of getting older and missing how things used to be?

Anyone else feels this disconnected as me? or if you guys have any hidden, low-key spots left in the Klang Valley to actually relax?

Is skin color still matters? Even if we're well groomed? Especially in public?

Is it just me feeling this way, or do people still look down on darker skinned ppl's on public transport in KL?

I've noticed scenes where ppl give awkward looks, avoid sitting next to, or even refuse to stand near dark skin individuals on buses or the LRT or at public areas.

It makes me wonder, are we really still holding on to this kind of colorist mentality? Even after all these years of living together as Malaysians, why are we still treating people differently based on skin shade in our own homeland? Are we all born and raised in the same land, breathe the same air?

Has anyone else noticed or experienced this on public transport, or is this just an unspoken habit people refuse to talk about?
