Lost my 10k AED job 4 months ago, grace period ending in days. Need advice on credit cards, visa, and next steps

Hey everyone,

Looking for some practical advice or guidance from anyone who has been in a similar situation in the UAE.

A bit of context:

\* Experience: 4 years in UAE (MNCs) + 6 years in home country in logistics, supply chain, and warehouse operations.

\* Financials: Was earning 10,000 AED/month until I lost my job 4 months ago.

\* Current situation: I've been unemployed for 3 months. Kept my family’s expenses to absolute basics, but rent, utilities, and living costs forced me to rely on credit cards. I’ve been paying the minimums for the last 2 months, but funds are running dry.

\* Visa status: My residence visa grace period ends in a couple of days. My spouse's visa is currently on hold.

With no job offer in hand yet, I'm reaching out to see what my best options are right now:

  1. Visa transition: Is it better to immediately switch to a 30/60-day visit visa in-country to keep searching, or cut losses and prepare to exit? How does this affect my spouse's visa on hold?

  2. Credit card debt: If I have to leave, how do I handle bank negotiations? Is it better to contact them now for a settlement/repayment plan from home, or keep paying minimums as long as possible?

  3. Hiring market: Has anyone with 10+ years in logistics/operations had success landing contract/freelance work or quick turnarounds recently?

Any honest feedback, legal/financial advice, or personal experiences would mean a lot right now. Thanks in advance.

Spouse Visa Hold Refund

I put my spouse's visa on hold, now my grace period has ended and I haven't got any job yet.

If I go back, will I get that AED 5000 back. If yes, how?

And If I stick here as some job offers are under process if the hold time expires i.e. end of August, will it get the amount refunded or not?

With that I have 10 years of experience with Alibaba, Careem (UAE) and Noon. In Fleet management, On-Demand fleet management and planning, vendor management, fulfillment, warehouse management.

If any of you link please do let me know.
