AITAH for cutting my friend off after he didn’t pay me back?

Last month one of my friends asked me to borrow Some money, he needed it to take his girl out and he said he would pay me back after the weekend since he got paid on monday. I was kind of broke myself but i didn’t have much going on so i gave it to him.

Next week rolled around and i asked him if i could have it back, i needed the money for gas and groceries and didn’t want to dip into my savings for that since i take pride in my budgeting skills.

He aired me for like 5 days and after that he just told me he couldn’t pay me since he had bills to pay and couldn’t miss that money.

Its not like i would be evicted without that money, but its not like he had known that. He didn’t tell me he had an unexpected payment he needed to make and thats why he came short, so it feels like he didn’t have any intention to pay me back in the first place.

Last night he asked me if i wanted to do something and i kinda just brushed him off. then he asked me if i was upset with him since i haven’t reached out in a while and i told him the money situation just pissed me off. He politely just told me to get over it.

I tried to explain to him that it isn’t about the amount of money, but that he didn’t keep his promise. That could have been my last 200, i could have not been able to pay my bills, groceries or gas because i didn’t have it. and i gave it to him in good faith of getting it back quickly.

I don’t really want to hang out with people who got their priorities all twisted up, especially if it hinders me.

The thing that bothers me is that he has been my friend for half my life. I dont know if im being dramatic or am right for this.

Judo Brown belt competing for the first time

Hey guys, yesterday i made a post about me competing for the first time at a tournament soon. I am a judo black belt, have been training BJJ for 2/3 months. and you all were very helpful notifying me i should change my registration to the blue belt division instead of competing at white belt.

I have a friend who is a judo brown belt. we joined our BJJ gym together are planning to go to the tournament together as well. Should he also register in the blue belt division or is he fine in the white belt division as a judo brown belt?

First time competing

Hey guys,
I have my first BJJ (No gi) tournament in a month and a half.

I have only been training for about 2/3 months now. I am a judo black belt, trained for about 12 years but haven’t trained for like 2 years.

Im still in good shape and in training i don’t feel like a beginner. Got a few decent submissions and a general understanding of passing and defending guards.

Is it fair for me to have any expectations of doing well at the tourney? Or am i setting myself
up for a huge disappointment.

▲ 129 r/judo

So i have been a judoka for over 12 years, but not too long ago i switched my main focus to MMA. Past a certain age there isnt that much of a competitive local scene in judo where i live. I did it semi professionally in my late teens but i put other things in my life ahead of the sport.

I still train judo 1x a week, but now i also train BJJ (2x) Muay thai (2x) and have a weekly MMA sparring class.

The MMA sparring class attracts a lot of different people and theres always someone new in there. I love to incorporate judo into my sparring, but at the same time i feel like people aren’t used to being thrown instead of taken down with wrestling takedowns.

So before i spar with someone new i try to tell them i do judo and ask them if throws are okay for sparring. Some people respect it, and are grateful for the heads up. But i also have had people roll their eyes.

It kinda makes me feel like a douche when i say it. I feel like a “watch out i do kung fu” nerd. But thats not my intention at all.

Just randomly throwing someone feels just as douchy, Is there any way i can come over as less of a prick while explaining it?

▲ 4 r/sambo

Hey guys, a little while ago i went to a sambo tournament. One of my friends was competing and i was there to support.

I really enjoyed watching, and i might be interested in competing. I have a background in judo, i’ve competed internationally as a teen and early in adulthood. I continued recreationally (1x a week) ever since. I also have been training muay thai/kickboxing (2x a week) , BJJ (1x a week), and i attend a weekly MMA sparring class.

The closest gym from where i live that has a Sambo class is an hour drive away, i have a busy schedule so i wouldn’t be able to train very often since its that far and i don’t have consistent weekday evenings free to be away from home for like 4 hours. I could most likely only train Sambo exclusively like once every 2/3 weeks.

Could i still be competitive in any way without having that much exclusive combat Sambo experience?
