Is [Redacted] A Good Name For You?
First and foremost I’m not out, not living out, not dressing it etc. I still present as feminine as I always have it’s just VERY RECENTLY I’ve started to put real thought into transition and I’ve started talking to a gender specialist.
Okay now that you have the context - I was at the bookstore the other day, one of those bookstores you can sell used books to and I had a bag of books to sell. I take them up and give the person my id to check in for the sale and they looked at my id, then to me, then to the id again (the id is less than a year old truly nothing about me has changed) and asked “is [Definitely Feminine First Name] still a good name for you?”
I was absolutely gobsmacked. I had JUST finished a conversation with the aforementioned gender specialist about how my entire life I’ve wanted to change my name to Daniel and even catfished as an emo boy named Danny in high school (sorry if we dated 💀)
I cannot come up with a single reason they would verify my first name in a way of asking if it had changed - could be totally mundane and nothing but it made my little heart grow three sizes that day.
Felt like a nod from something bigger than lil ole me saying “you’re on the right path”
