Be persistent! Don't give up hope
Hey y'all,
I've commented and/or posted here several times and I wanted to share a bit of good news that came my way today.
For the last few months, I've been working tirelessly trying to find documentation to support my citizenship by descent application on behalf of my G0, my great grandmother. Straining my eyes looking deep in various databases and websites, reaching out via phone or email to agencies in the hopes that they have some record on file. I would find little crumbs here and there but nothing that felt like it would suffice.
Birth certificate from eHealth Saskatchewan? We don't have it or it doesn't exist
Baptismal records? We've got her siblings but not her
Canadian census records? Her two brothers are on it but not her
It seemed that nothing was going to come together. Until today.
After eHealth Saskatchewan sent the first email to my brother telling him they don't have anything, my husband and I didn't give up. I searched around for manifests, border crossings, siblings records, marriage certificates, death certificates, hell even newspaper clippings to find something that might help out. Meanwhile, my husband submitted another request another request on behalf of myself to eHealth Saskatchewan and a month or two later, my G0's "non existent" birth certificate arrived in the mail!
Still a long way to go with the application and need to grab some other family members' birth certificates and marriage certificates but it felt like a real win today.
Be persistent - don't give up hope. Final another request with the agency. Add as much detail as possible. You got this!
Gay couple looking for a GC/ surrogate in Canada - embryos and clinic ready to go!
Hello!
My husband and I started our journey towards having children of our own a few years ago and now we are fully ready to meet our GC / surrogate! Our embryos and clinic are ready to go, and we have signed with an agency! Woo hoo!
Our home is in the state of Minnesota and we have a strong support system of friends, family, and neighbors who have loved hearing about our story. The story begins when we first met at a local brewery nearly 6 years ago. We hit it off immediately and 3 years later, I was down on one knee on a Norwegian mountaintop asking him to be my husband. From there, we bought our house and began researching surrogacy.
I work in IT and my husband works as an attorney. We have thoroughly loved making our house our own with our two dogs. Both of us have always dreamed about being parents and enjoy spending time with our niece and nephew. I have worked with children in a past profession and always appreciated how children have a different way of looking at the world - an innocence and a wealth of curiosity.
We are both lifelong learners and enjoy traveling, I love to learn new languages and my husband and I both enjoy reading. We like to host game nights with friends and family, hike around the many parks in our area, and generally stay very active. My husband loves to watch sports and can't wait to be the coach for our kids some day. I love to bike, cross country ski, and try new coffee shops around the area.
While our home is in Minnesota, our egg donor and clinic are both in Canada. It's one of our favorite places to visit. We love our Northern neighbors!
We’re hoping to connect with someone who has had at least one healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy, is between 20–42 years old, and lives a healthy lifestyle, including maintaining a healthy BMI and being a non-smoker and drug-free.
Per our agency, must be a Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident!
If you are interested in becoming our GC / surrogate or learning a bit more, please comment below or send me a DM.
We can't wait to meet you!

Not sure if this was shared on this subreddit back when the article was written in February. Love our city!
Sticker bomb internal garage door?
Hey there! My husband and I would like to sticker bomb our internal garage door (not the big one, it's a side door and we'd sticker bomb the internal part of it, not external). We were having some concerns about temperature changes as we live in Minnesota and the garage can get really hot and really cold. Has anyone done this before with success? Any tips or advice? Thanks!
Bluetooth connection issues after Gemini update
Hey all -
Have a 2024 Riptide Blue Equinox EV. Absolutely love it so far and the only issue I've come across is with the Bluetooth.
A couple of days ago, I saw the car needed an update. I ran the update whilst plugged in at home. As I was trying to troubleshoot a Bluetooth connection issue yesterday, I forgot my device on both the EV and my Pixel and now I can't seem to reconnect.
Here's what happens:
Turn off and on the Bluetooth on my phone
Go to devices on the EV and hit the plus
Pairing code shows up for both the phone and EV. Have tried clicking pair on just one and also both at the same time. It seems to work for 2 seconds and then fails.
I have tried to restart the Infotainment system and open / shut the car door, restart my phone, remove Bluetooth, etc. All the general troubleshooting things you'd expect (I work in IT support so very familiar). Interestingly, my husband's iPhone still connects and I don't want to try and forget it in case his also encounters this issue.
Anyone experience this before? Any tips? Thanks!
[Minnesota] Grandma's wasn't named in the hospital. Can I still get a birth certificate?
Hello!
Recently, I've been trying to track down my grandmother's birth certificate. She was born in Rochester, Minnesota. I contacted Olmsted County and they said that they don't have a record of her birth in 1935 and that her name was listed as ""Baby girl," which the person helping me believed was related to her not being named in the hospital. My grandma is still alive, but it's very unlikely that she would be able to apply for a birth certificate if she doesn't have one. Certainly, she must have some kind of evidence of her birth that the state would have right? Has anyone run into this situation before? What would you suggest doing? My mom is going to have breakfast with her and see if she has her birth certificate or something because that might clear it up.
IP in Canada - is this normal for an agency?
Hi there!
We are two intended parents from Minnesota and we're working with an agency in Ontario for egg donorship as well as surrogacy. Just as a heads-up, we were told that matching could take up to several years or longer.
We've really enjoyed our experience working with our agency up until recently and we're wondering if this is normal. At the beginning of working with them and finding our egg donor, there was a ton of communication from the agency. Sign this form, meet with this person, set up your profile, add photos, videos, etc. it was wonderful. As soon as our egg donor had finished with a successful retrieval and we had our embryos ready to go, it's pretty much been radio silence except for a few times every few months.
The communication we do get is stuff like "we're making a video for Christmas, can you create a video of yourself with a holiday message" of things to that effect. That happens every few months. We had asked the agency if there was a way to get more updates on what's going on, even if it's just "nothing yet but hope you're doing well." As I said previously, we came into this before signing anything fully knowing it may take a while to match.
Is this normal for matching in Canada? I guess I don't really know what updates they'd give anyway but just curious of other perspectives. Thanks!
