My gut is telling me to pull away from a friend, should I listen to it?

I (20F) have been friends with a guy (21M) for about a year. We met in a group chat and clicked immediately, we also had a lot of fun chatting at first.

Once we started having disagreements, I would constantly feel backed into a corner and pressured to yield and apologize because according to him I was misunderstanding his intentions. I tried talking to him about it, how I constantly feel like I'm walking on eggshells, he got upset and said that I misunderstand his care and how he's just trying to be a good friend, at first I told myself maybe it's true and that I'm not interpreting his words well but my uneasy feeling never went away.

Ever since, it felt like a cycle, each time something I said or did upset him and I tried to explain how either it's not that big of a deal or that I don't see what's wrong he'd get upset, accuse me of neglecting his care and never taking his words in good sense and always focusing on the bad meaning they carry, he also would sometimes get aggressive with words and when I told him that's not nice his reply is that my words triggered him because they carry a bad meaning.

Another thing to keep in mind is that he is extremely busy, he can go for days with me hearing 3 sentences from him, at first I was worried and asked what happened but after he explained that he has a busy schedule and sometimes he just doesn't find the time to update me I was very understanding and didn't question him since. Recently, I had a personal issue and went MIA for 2 days, I'd like to specify that this is not the first time and life gets busy sometimes so he was aware of it. When I returned I apologized to everyone and they were all telling me glad you're okay but him, his immediate response was "why didn't you tell me" to which I replied that I didn't find the time, he followed it up by " screw this, I ain't gonna make a big deal out of it".

I couldn't help but feel upset a bit, when I told him I expected him to be more understanding given his own busy schedule, he just got mad, accused me of not valuing him, that he should just become a robot that doesn't care and claimed that some people really never realize your value until you're gone.

I said that this is nothing but guilt tripping and I pointed out that no one else reacted the way he did his response was "your other friendships are probably surface level and they don't care about you that much" when I told him how rude that is to say he immediately backed down saying he just meant our friendship is on a deeper level so I told him that I have a friend since years before him, does that make our friendship surface level too in comparison and he just stayed quiet, I argued some more and he just left me on read.

Even if he replies, I feel like forgiving him won't fix this underlying feeling. Am I overreacting, or should I trust my gut and walk away from this friendship?

I'd appreciate if you guys have any advice to give or if you have been in similar situations and how that turned out.
