In 1st year, they are not. Maybe friends, but not best friends. I remember Furudate said Kageyama is closer to Sugawara in one of those books where they interview him with a bunch of questions. I think they are the biggest rivals and partners and maybe? friends...? I mean I read this series for 8 times i really wont say they are typically friends during 1st year and i remember after hinata got into karasuno he actually talked about friends and partners before, but here's a person who keeps arguing with me abt their relationship on youtube. .help me prove her wrong!
