Could this window cling film become a fire hazard in direct sunlight?

I saw someone online use this kind of window cling film on their car’s moonroof/sunroof and it created a dazzling effect inside the car on a sunny day. I’d love to have the same, however I’ve read about glass objects catching things on fire due to the lensing effect. Those kinds of glass objects typically throw off lil rainbows of light in the right lighting and this window cling does too. Does anybody know if this kind of film could possibly do the same lensing effect and risk starting a fire inside my car?

Half-boiled potatoes

Hi all,

I was in the middle of boiling some potatoes to make smashed potatoes for the week when I suddenly had to take a loved one to the ER and had to simply turn off the stove and dash.
I’m now home a few hours later, my potatoes had gotten down to room temp. Do you think it’s okay to simply restart the cooking process? Or do I need to abandon them entirely?

Suede or very worn leather identification?

Hi!
I’m having a weirdly hard time determining whether my boots are leather that’s very worn and in need of TLC or suede. I’ve had them for years and for the life of me I cannot remember their original texture. The toes seem to have something of a napped texture, the heel of the boots have a sheen, and the sides are confusing as they seem to be somewhere between the two. As best as I can figure they were either suede and the heel has been… polished(?)… burnished(?) by contact with my pants? Or they were originally a regular leather and the toes have simply taken a beating?
I know some leather basics but I’m unsure how to identify which these are to determine which set of my tools to use to give them TLC.

Squeaky and silent glasses

I finally have a perfectly boring mystery for y’all!

I was unloading my dishwasher after dinner this evening when I picked up two glasses in succession. One squeaked against my skin as glass is wont to do. The other froze me in my tracks with its silence in my hand. I cannot for the life of me determine why one squeaks and the other does not. I’ve never noticed this phenomenon before but perhaps I was simply not as observant in the past.🤷‍♀️
I hand-washed both again to see if that made one start or the other stop squeaking. No effect. There have been no changes to dish detergent in the house and they were even in the same load of the dishwasher. One appears /slightly/ cleaner than the other. The one that squeaks feels as I would anticipate. The silent one feels like the glass equivalent of silk.
Any guesses for the cause of this mystery phenomenon?

Squeaky glass on left, silent on right. Video for proof. Banana for scale.

(Video for proof incoming if I can figure out how to upload it.🤦‍♀️😂)
