In love with Willow island

I just discovered the dreaming option a few days ago and have been to a handful of islands. I just visited one called Willow and, holy crap, I want to live there. The whole place is immaculate and lovely.

If this is one of you, your island is beautiful and a pleasure to visit!

Are there specific gifts I should be giving my neighbors?

I noticed that sometimes we have the option to give something to our neighbors when chatting with them, but I can't seem to find any information regarding what each one will like besides general color preferences.

Also, is there anywhere to learn about interactions with them? I discovered that Reneigh will give me DIY recipes, but I don't see it listed anywhere in resources like Nookipedia, so I'm uncertain if I'm missing similar interactions with the others. I see people requesting various villagers in the "in boxes" sub, but how do they know which ones they want without more in-depth information than is in the resource guides like Nookipedia? Is it purely learning from experience?

Newbie Questions

Hi! My kids are all grown up and moved away and I'd like to play New Horizons with them. I assume we each have to have our own copy of the game on our own Switch, but I'm not clear how social play works. I read that we can have a village of up to eight people but only one person can be exploring the village at a time. Does that mean we couldn't be playing together? Do we each have to have our own village to play together? That seems like a strange setup, so I needed to ask to get a better understanding of how this works.

What should I know before we get the game to ensure we can play together?
