Indian Ex-employer refused reference letter on company letterhead for CEC

I completed my graduation and post-grad in India, and after that I worked for a commodity trading company for around 4 years (2019–2023) under the role of Analyst – Operations.

I then came to Canada, completed 2 years of study, and have now been working here for 1 year. I’m becoming eligible for CEC soon.

Back when I was serving my notice period in India, I asked my employer for a proper reference letter that I could later use for immigration purposes. They completely refused at first. After a lot of follow-ups, they finally sent me an email from their official company email ID mentioning:

my name

salary

start and end dates

generic job responsibilities

The issue was that the duties were extremely generic and didn’t clearly align with NOC 13201, which is the NOC I’m planning to claim.

At that time, I just accepted whatever I could get.

Fast forward to now in 2026 — I went back to my ex-manager again and requested a proper reference letter on company letterhead. They outright refused to issue anything on letterhead.

After a lot of back-and-forth (including me drafting the letter myself), they finally agreed to sign a detailed reference letter with proper duties matching my role. However:

it is NOT on company letterhead

it was sent from my manager’s official company email ID

it includes her contact number, email, company website, and office address

the letter is signed by her

But because it’s just on a plain blank sheet, I’m worried IRCC may think it’s fake or self-made.

I pushed them multiple times to issue it on official letterhead, but they refused completely. It was basically a “take it or leave it” situation.

The frustrating part is that ALL my other supporting documents are official and on company letterhead:

offer letter

pay slips

tax documents

relieving/experience letter

employment records

The only thing missing is the actual reference letter being on company letterhead.

Has anyone here successfully used a reference letter like this for CEC/Express Entry?

What are my options here? I genuinely feel stuck because everything else is in order except this one requirement.

Hey everyone,

I’m very new to the stock market, ETFs, and especially leveraged ETFs. I started with about $10k in XEQT (basically most of my life savings in Canada), and after seeing a lot of discussion about SOXL here, I decided to try it out.

Last Friday I tested the waters with $2k and tried some quick scalping — ended up making around $75 😂 which honestly felt like a big win for me.

Now I’m thinking of going bigger with the full $10k, but I’m also pretty scared of losing my capital since this is basically everything I have saved up here.

My main question:

A lot of people seem confident SOXL will go up after AMD earnings. So would it be better to:

  1. Buy today and hold through earnings, then sell at the right time tomorrow, OR

  2. Wait until tomorrow and continue with small scalping trades like I did before?

I’m also planning to use stop-limit orders to manage risk, but I’m not sure if that’s enough with something as volatile as SOXL.

I’m not trying to become millionaire overnight — just trying to learn and grow slowly without blowing up my account.

Would really appreciate if someone could suggest a simple, step-by-step approach I can follow over the next month, especially with upcoming AMD and Nvidia earnings.

Please don’t bash me — just trying to learn 🙏

Thanks in advance!
