394 vs 500ish, still going strong!

Hello all! Just wanted to share my current progress :) Around 2ish years ago I was at my heaviest weighing in just north of 500 lbs. I moved to a new place and started trying to change some of my habits as I was eating out for basically every meal, and buying lots of snacks, binging, etc. I was also at a peak depression and failing to accept it. I lost around 30-40 lbs just from changing habits back to eating mostly home cooked meals and cutting down on the amount of snacks I was buying, but I was still eating way too much and very unhealthily.

Finally I decided to get on the GLP-1 train as I realized how accessible it actually was and took the plunge. My start weight on GLP-1 was 467, and I started on April 10th of this year. I've officially fallen below 400 lbs for the first time in a decade or more! I am currently weighing in at 394 lbs and I couldn't be happier! And the train doesn't stop here! My goal is to eventually get back down to around 220 or so, but it'll still take some time. Progress every week though and I couldn't be happier! Just wanted to share with some folks as I'm in great spirits today!

Looking for help deciding checks and DCs for a stormy broken bridge encounter

Hey all, newish DM here. I came up with a fun idea for my group. They are traveling to a new city, and will be passing by various rivers, and terrain. I decided I wanted to set up a rope bridge to cross one of the rivers that broke during a bad storm. To add to this, there was a family crossing with their trade cart and while the wife/daughter made it across, the husband went tumbling with the cart into the river below (around 10ft drop) and was able to catch himself on a rock.

So the goal is for the party to not only save the man, but also get across the now broken bridge.

Most people are likely going to immediately think of using rope in some manner. Both to save the man, but also to make it across. The bridge crossing itself is 50ft, which would take up the entire length of a single rope, making it not possible to toss the other end to the wife. Instead, they may consider tying two ropes together for this task.

So therein lies where I'm stuck. I need to figure out what types of checks and DCs for the following (I'm assuming lots of Athletics/Acrobatics/Sleight of Hand checks?):

- Throwing the rope to the man in the water
- Husband catching rope (?)
- Pulling the man out of the water, and up a steep-ish 10ft muddy slope
- Tying two ropes together strong enough to allow the party to monkey 50ft across safely
- Throwing the tied rope 50ft across to the wife
- Wife catching rope (?)
- Check to actually monkey across the rope 50ft safely

All of this during the midst of a windy/rainy thunderstorm.

I will probably need to also plan for a possible failure and falling into the river.

I realize after I made this encounter just how logistical it needed to be, and now I'm not sure what to do. Looking for any advice you can offer for the check types, DCs, and/or anything you think makes sense to change.

Appreciate any and all help you can offer! Thanks :)

Edit: The party is a group of level 1s that consist of: Fighter, Druid, Artificer, Warlock, Monk

Edit 2: Here's a write up of what's going on and why it's happening (was an answer to a post in the thread):

As for why they're in the storm, and how this plays in to the narrative:
This will be session 2 of an Isekai homebrew campaign. The wizard that summoned them gave them instructions to meet a friend in a nearby town while he headed back to report his success to his mentor in the first major city. The party is being sent to this major city to meet back up with the wizard, so they can get more info about what's going on (their summoning, etc) as well as an incentive in the way of a free magic item from the local shop once they arrive. (This was my clever way of making sure for the beginning of the story they had more incentive to go to this city).

The goal of the party is to make it to the city, having limited knowledge of this world using a map provided to them.

I decided to create encounters along the way as the trip is around 6-8 days depending on route. This bridge encounter was the first idea. My thought was, while traveling, a sudden storm hits..they shortly after hear the shouting of the family as the man has fallen in. The bridge having broke was also meant as a way to slow them down, and I just flavored it up a bit to create a teamwork challenge.

If they manage to safely safe the man and escort the family to their nearby ranch, the family will let the party rest up, eat, etc and advise they can't repay them due to lost goods, but if they look for the man's brother in the major city and tell them what happened, he may be inclined to aid them in some way. (Setting up another NPC to interact with in the city)

My lunch today filled me up at 302 calories. My Taco Bell lunch orders were around 2070 calories before I started. I'm only on week 6.

I felt the need to post about this because it actually got me emotional realizing just how much of a difference this drug has been making in my life and I'm just getting started. I am only on week 6, so my second shot of 5mg just occurred this passed Saturday. I've lost a total of around 25 lbs so far. I started at 467, and am down to 442~, and noticing so many big changes already even on the low dosage.

I made myself lunch today and tallied up the calorie count at 302 calories.

My normal taco bell order if I ordered out varied, but one of the common orders was a supreme luxe box (chicken chalupa, beefy 5 layer burrito, soft taco, large baja blast, cinna twists), plus a beefy loaded potato griller. Sometimes I'd order more..

For the box, I'd add spicy ranch to the chalupa, remove beans, but add potatoes and chipotle sauce to the 5 layer burrito, and didnt eat the cinna twists. This combo including the extra burrito totals out to 2070 calories.

For lunch today I made 2 small tuna wraps. Ingredients were 1/2 cup of Basmati Rice (130~ cal), 1 can of albacore tuna (110 cal), 1.5 tbsp kewpie mayo (150 cal), 1 tbsp sriracha (5 cal), 1 tbsp furikake seasoning (30 cal), some chopped green onions, two fajita sized carb balance tortillas (45 cal ea, 90 total), and some spinach. The tuna mixture came out to 425 cal, but I only used half of it for the two wraps.

Just thought I'd share this NSV with y'all and maybe add another voice to the bunch to prove just how life changing this medication is. <3

Edit: I almost forgot, sometimes I'd get a Cheesy Gordita Crunch in addition to the above food due to their rewards system, and I'd eat that too! That's another 480 calories!

Hello, and well met all you lovely DMs out there! Please see below for information about our group and what we're looking for!

Timeslot: Tuesdays at 6:30PM EST -- This is a hard requirement.

Who we are: We are a group who met through a previous campaign with another DM, but unfortunately that campaign fell through. We are an eclectic bunch, but our differences are our strengths as we all work well together and compliment each other's play styles. The previous campaign was quite fun, so we decided to stick together.

What we are looking for: A long term weekly campaign with equal opportunities for narrative storytelling, exploration, combat, and everything in between. Preferably a medieval setting (nothing modern/futuristic/sci-fi), but it can be either officially sourced or homebrew for the actual setting.

What we would like in a DM: An experienced DM that encourages and facilitates a good collaborative story. The ability and willingness to work with the players to incorporate our character's stories into the narrative of the campaign in some way. We are more than happy to work with you to make this as easy and seamless as it can be.

--Other Preferences--

Must Be Okay With: LGBTQ+ / BIPOC / Men / Women

RP:Combat Ratio: I'd say 60:40 to 70:30 would be a healthy mix. We can discuss further with you to find a good spot for everyone.

Difficulty: We don't want any "on wheels" gameplay, and we're perfectly ok with combat where there are potentially high stakes and death being possible. However, that's not to say that we want every combat to be a life or death experience. If it makes sense for the fight to be hard narratively, that would be more interesting and enjoyable than every fight being a fight for our life.

Homebrew: We are willing to participate in a homebrew world with any house rules the DM chooses, and would leave the allowance of homebrew classes/subclasses up to the DM, but not opposed to using them.

System: 2024/2014 5e. We have a preference for 2024, but 2014 is okay (or a mix as some seem to do)

VTT Preference: We have the most familiarity with Foundry, but would be open to others.

Cams On/Off: If possible, we prefer to play with our cams on as it allows us to better respond and react to one another if we can see the person we are talking to.

Starting Level: Prefer level 3, but can discuss with the DM

Stats: Point Buy or Standard Array preferred

What we do NOT want: Paid games, modern/futuristic/scifi settings, obvious railroading.

If you are interested in DMing for us and think you'll vibe well with us, please send me a message with the following information, or post in this thread!:
