That stamp, though

I just backed the Crows RPG at the limited edition pledge level, but I was sooooo tempted to upgrade to the GOAT edition for the stamp alone. Reaching over to stamp DEAD on your characters’ sheets would be such a perfect vibe for the game. I might have to figure out a way to get a DEAD stamp of my own.

Mom says it’s my turn to post about my final jokers for c++

Just three jokers left to go before I get c++. After achieving c+, I didn’t think I’d ever get c++, but after a while I realized I was a good chunk of the way there and started adding jokers to my lineup to get stickers. Now I have only three jokers left. See if you can guess which ones.

By the way, despite being 2% away from c++, I still wouldn’t say I’m good at this game.

I ran Crows last night!

In short: it was a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to playing again!

The group had played a few TTRPGs before, but mostly 5e. I didn’t have a printer available, so it took a minute to write up character sheets and everything. Especially with the ability to move items between your backpack and hands, this is definitely a game built for equipment cards, rather than just writing items in the blanks — even better would be digital character sheet to track your inventory and usage dice.

Death is very much on the table. One of the PCs died in the very first encounter against 3 Blood Creature Bs, due to an ill-timed critical hit, but we had a new PC rolled up within a few minutes.

It had to give a few gentle reminders that killing monsters is not the goal. (“Oh, I can just shove the blood creature back into the cabinet instead of killing it? Yeah, let’s do that then.”)

The gold = XP system worked great. The group was excited every time they found a coin purse, and went nuts when I told them the Greatsword of Exploding was worth 2,000 gc.

Despite sharing the core resolution mechanic of powers rolls with Draw Steel, this game feels very different. It took a minute for it to click for my PCs that their equipment is their abilities.

Much more so than Draw Steel, I think Crows is well suited to a drop-in/drop-out “west marches” style game, with a rotating group of players. I’d consider running it at my local game store, because it’s easy to teach someone the game and to jump into the action.

I’m looking forward to further releases!

Did you ever hear the tragedy of King Sisyphus the Wise?

Thought of this joker idea after I blew through $600 on a naneinf attempt without finding a Blueprint

For those of you who have started running online games of Draw Steel using the codex, what is your setup like? How many monitors do you use? What apps do you have open? How do you chat with your players?
