Unheated Vinyasa - Injury?

Hi all! I attend heated vinyasa yoga classes 2-3 times a week for the past two years.

Recently, my studio’s heater broke. No biggie, I went to class actually interested to see how a non heated yoga class would operate. Usually the studios in my city that offer non heated yoga classes dont offer a full on vinyasa class. Its either Yin or Hatha, or slow soul flow class.

My teacher taught the unheated vinyasa pretty much the exact same way she teaches her regular vinyasa classes. I take her every monday and she teaches one of the more intense classes at my studio, so I’m familiar with her class and flow structure.

The next morning, I started having pretty intense pain in my rhomboid/scapular area on my right back/shoulder. Breathing deeply without pain became difficult, and I had to go to urgent care to get a muscle relaxer and toradol shot.

My question: is teaching a vinyasa flow in an unheated environment the same way as you would a usual heated class unsafe? I dont think my teacher would ever intentionally try to teach an unsafe class, but maybe she just didnt think about it. As i do research around what classes they offer in my city, it makes sense that none of the unheated classes are full on vinyasa flows

Adhd meds for neurotypical brains

Hi all! I take a relatively low dose 10mg adderall xr and have been for the past few months. I’ve had adhd all my life and was medicated throughout my schooling years, but stopped in adulthood. I actually recently started the medication again out of hopes it would help my anxiety. A lot of my issues stems from racing intrusive thoughts, so the adderall has helped wonderfully with that.

My boyfriend’s mother suggested he may have adhd, and encouraged him to try medication. His response was very different from how adderall works for me. He got a burst of productivity and increase in mood. When I take adderall, I just feel calm and even sleepy. It doesn’t necessarily help me complete my tasks, I just feel less mental fatigue and stress from all the noise in my brain.

I think his response to adderall may be confirming he doesnt need it after all. Isn’t an increase in productivity and mood how a neurotypical brain responds? I just feel mostly normal when i take mine

Time healing IC/Bladder Pain

Hi friends. It’s been a long time since I’ve posted or lurked, but I was having a moment of reflection. In 2022 I was going through the hardest time of my life. I had a kidney infection with no clear cause (no bacteria found) and came out of it fine, but weeks later I developed terrible bladder pain and ic symptoms. I went on the journey a lot of us go through, and eventually through pelvic floor therapy, ssris, and lots of time, I finally feel normal again.

I remember seeing one time that someone here posted that one of the fastest organs to heal was the mouth (hence why wisdom teeth surgery heals so quickly), but the bladder is one of the slowest. I cant say for sure that any one method helped me, but I feel like time had something to do with it. It took a full 2-3 years, but I can say I feel mostly recovered.

I remember seeing someone provide some perspective, that its often hard to find success stories on the reddit because usually the people who are actively struggling seek support here. Even now, it feels kind of weird posting. Am I bragging that I’m healed while others are suffering? Thinking about how hopeless I felt back then, it made me want to post.

I’m not a doctor, and someone telling you “it just takes time” is one of the most infuriating bs things ever. But I hope for anyone new and struggling like I was, please know that there’s going to be a day where you feel alright again. You wont wake up one day and feel perfect, that never happened to me. But slowly, your body may start to heal. The bladder, bowels, and uterus are some of the most complicated and interconnected parts of your body. Sometimes, medicine, PT, and time are all we can use to help. But if anyone needs someone to talk to, please dm.
