I’ve been selected for two programs and wanted perspective on which would be the better choice overall:

⭐️ KJ Somaiya Institute of Management - MBA Marketing Communications (new course started 2025 in collaboration with Jio Creative Labs; no placement data yet and placements are not pooled so uncertain, but overall college brand is slightly stronger plus degree name makes it more vast, 3 days in campus and 2 days at Jio Creative Labs working, batch is aloof from core mba batches and not very included in college committees and network relations but exposure and connections plus live portfolio building at Jio Creative Labs is a plus.

⭐️ Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research - PGDM Media & Entertainment (more established program with recorded placement history, involvement in college activities and clubs is a plus point, all mba courses are given the same opportunities at committees as well as pooled placements, college reputation almost at par with KJ but I’ve heard mixed reviews about packages and am concerned if the degree name makes it slightly niche as compared to a marketing communications degree).

Need honest advice: KJ MBA Marketing Communications vs Welingkar PGDM Media & Entertainment

I’m confused between:

1. KJ Somaiya – MBA in Marketing Communications
2. Welingkar – PGDM in Media & Entertainment

Here’s my situation:

- KJ has a stronger overall brand and reputation, but this specific program started in 2025, so there’s no placement data yet. Placements are also not pooled, so I’d be part of the first batch, which feels risky.

- Welingkar’s M&E program is more established and has placement history, but I’ve seen mixed reviews online, especially regarding ROI and outcomes for niche programs. Typical packages seem to be in the 6–10 LPA range.

About me:
- I genuinely want to go into entertainment/media long-term
- I’m interested in creative roles — content, branding, digital, media strategy, etc. (not a typical desk-heavy corporate role)
- But I also want a decent starting salary and strong career growth — the MBA has to be worth it financially

So my dilemma is:

Should I choose Welingkar because it’s more aligned with my interest + more established, or take the risk with KJ for the better overall brand but zero placement track record?

Would really appreciate honest insights from current students/alumni.
