Commander Judd in the novel and his role in the coup
In the novel, it was mentioned that he masterminded the President’s Day Massacre using a CIA pamphlet on how to destabilize a regime and also theorized to be a high ranking official in the US government before Gilead, which led me to wonder on what his position was. My best guess would be he was either the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs or the Director of National Intelligence
