Are autoloaders worthwhile?

I’m looking at a tank with a choice of two top-level guns. Similar dpm, identical penetration. Is there any particular advantage to pecking an opponent to death in 3-round, 50-damage increments, versus hitting them with one shot for 250 points less often?

Does rank do anything?

I was just given the GSOR 1008, and after a couple of games was offered the “opportunity” to raise my rank by a notch for 50,000 credits. Is there any practical benefit to improving the rank of a tank, or it just to show off?

This in infuriating.

I know I’m not a good player, but this is ridiculous. Over and over, I’m obliterated by players whose view range is vastly greater than mine, because they’ve played 15k games and maximized crew skills. What’s the point of playing when I can’t possibly compete? I can hang back and get killed by someone who slips behind my team, charge forward and get destroyed with one or two shots from some monstrous TD, hide and get killed at the end by the surviving 3-4 enemy players. It took 17 battles for me to get 3 rating battle wins; how is that even possible? I feel like starting the match and not even bothering to play would do as much good as actually trying to win; every enemy I see is always perfectly angled to be invulnerable to me the moment they appear, yet they can always hit me.

How to adjust self-closing door?

The self-closing mechanism on the door between the house and garage at my parents’ is off slightly, leaving the door open enough unless pushed shut that the cat gets out. My dad used to occasionally adjust the mechanism, but recently passed away, and I don’t remember how he did it. Any ideas?

The paint-free area near the top of the cylinder has a series of holes in it; at the right is some kind of pin. The pin has no slot for a screwdriver, is slightly tapered so can’t be pulled, and doesn’t seem to be able to be pushed in. I’m pretty sure that the hole and pin arrangement has something to do with adjusting the closing force.

TIA for your help!

Is what I’m doing safe?

Male, 49, BMI of 29, naturally of heavier/more muscular build (6’3”, 230-235 lbs); at a “normal” BMI of 200 lbs., I’d look bony, not fit. I put on muscle easily.

I’ve alternated periods of being quite sedentary with periods of being more active for much of my adult life. My blood pressure is a bit higher than I’d like, despite medication, and my cholesterol is OK thanks to medication. I’d like to improve my fitness level for health reasons, drop perhaps 15 pounds, and convert a few pounds to muscle.

My question: I like using the treadmill at the gym. After 3-4 weeks of going regularly, I can manage about 2 miles at a 6 mph pace, and could probably manage 3 miles without slowing if I do it regularly for 3-4 months. I’m breathing very hard, but I stop because my legs start to burn, not due to lightheadedness or any breathing issues. When I check my pulse immediately as I move to cooldown, it reads around 170 bpm or slightly higher, supposedly at or above the absolute maximum for my age. Is this unsafe for me, from a cardiac perspective? If I keep my pace at a level where my pulse is the “proper” 130-140 bpm, it just doesn’t feel like much of an exertion; it’s only a mildly fast uphill walk.

How often does the game dispense free tanks?

I’m at the point where I’m about to delete my account and start again for the second time, as I’ve reached 1200 games and am now once again facing only human players who make pretty much all of my games extremely short and unsuccessful. This in turn means a perpetual lack of credits to upgrade anything and an inability to complete many missions because, well, I die much too soon, resulting in a spiral of failure. I also prefer playing lower tiers because of the lack of ridiculously powerful tanks that can kill me with 1-2 shots.

Anyway, I’ve received a couple of actually decent free tanks (Titan-150, TSL-7 Defender) as event rewards, and it would be a pity to give them up. How often are freebies like these granted?

Why can’t I beat human players?

I’ve played more than a thousand games. I’m still in bot matchmaking and play mostly Tiers IV-VI, so teams are usually 1-3 human players a side. Even discounting games against ridiculously overpowered cheat tanks like the AC Wedge, which just kill everything from a position of complete invulnerability, I lose 2/3 of games I play. If I focus on killing the human players first, I die in a hail of bot and human fire after landing one or two shots. If I hang back and kill the bots, the totally unscathed human(s) roll up at the end and kill me after disposing of the rest of my team.

I’ve just played a dozen games in a Tier IV TD and lost ten of them. It seems like it should almost take effort to be this unsuccessful.

How do you fight Stuarts?

I’m a subpar player. I nearly always lose to humans, and mostly play lower tiers.

I always lose to AC Wedges and Highlanders, but I expect that. However, I’m also always getting killed by humans in M3/M5 Stuarts, which on paper seem like they should be killable, yet my shots mostly miss or bounce and theirs never do. Is there some secret to fighting them? At these tiers, armor and gun power don’t generally vary that much from tank to tank.

When do crew skills kick in?

I recently deleted my account and restarted from the beginning, as I am and always will be a subpar player and prefer playing against mostly bots so my games are less nasty, brutish, and short.

Anyway, I’ve played 100 games or so and have a Tier V tank. The crew skills icon is nowhere to be found. At what point does crew training kick in? Is it after a certain number of games, reaching a particular tier, or something else?

1200 game cutoff

I’ve read here that, once a player reaches 5,000 games played, bots are turned off and matches are made only with human players. I reached 1,200 games yesterday, and suddenly find myself with at least 5 human players a side, even at Tier III, which means my games are short and wildly unsuccessful. Is my only recourse to again wipe my account and start over?

Reforged: What am I doing wrong?

I just downloaded the Reforged beta test package and have tried to play. I’ve tried various T4-T6 tanks in Random mode, but can’t get a match after 4-5 minutes, even though it shows 170+ players waiting. Am I missing something here?

What’s the point of the AC tanks?

They seem absurdity overpowered. Essentially every match featuring an AC Wedge/Highlander/Ocelote, it kills me and wins. Nothing else at the tiers I play is even remotely competitive by comparison.

What happens with excess combat XP?

Is there any use for combat XP gained in excess of what is needed to research upgrades and the next tank up the tree, or on premium tanks that are “dead ends” in tech tree terms?

Is it possible to restart the game from scratch?

Since I’m a terrible player, not improving, not grasping terrain, etc., I’d much rather go back to playing bots. Most games, I’m killed before firing a shot, or after landing a single hit; as such, this has become boring. Is it possible to start over from scratch and play bots so my games last longer than 45 seconds or so?
