How do you deal with "a lot of higher ups have their eyes on this project"?

To create a sense of urgency, we are frequently told (by a specific senior) "this is going to blow up", "a lot of higher ups have their eyes on this project even till the CEO level".

Hear this constantly and it feels that it is a lie sometimes.

How do you deal with the fact that sometimes we are told lies to create urgency. Sometimes we are given hearsay "some was not happy about this".

Is it okay to say "could you please provide documented email evidence about someone not being happy".

Not available for weekend work 🖕

Senior tried to push weekend work saying "a lot of eyes are on this project" (common BS)

I said I'm not available. The next reply was "we will take a look at it on monday"

Fucked up culture. It's a win.

Just sat in the same lunch table as the hiring manager who rejected after job interview.

Internal job. Had video interview with hiring manager. First question he had was "why have you been in the same role for so many years"

Maybe thought I was a laggard. But I've had "excellent" performance reviews. Bro didn't read the reviews it looks like

I didn't have the balls to say "bro my manager ddnt promote me in spite of having good performance" . I also forgot to say "did you check my performance reviews"

Someone else in the lunch table introduced me to him and I saw his face turn red.

I didn't bother to converse with him.

I instead talked to another person next to me.

Does the VP of your org know your name. Should they be knowing your name?

When your teams work gets presented to the VP do you know how it gets presented?

Are you just part of "the team did x work" sentence in. Powerplant slide?

What would your reaction be to a cold message on LinkedIn?

What would your reaction be when someone seemingly genuine cold DMs you in linkedin.

There is one type that straight asks for a referral.

There is another that caught something in your profile and wants to know more.

What kind of DMs would impress you. Thanks

Can managers block you from getting an internal job?

Can managers block you from getting an internal job even though they have said that they will support your internal transfers by giving a bad referral?

Also can they collude with HR to not let you move internally?

How to spot this.
