Frontier Mode

Download from CurseForge:
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/frontier-mode

The Wild

There is no surviving beyond the Frontier. In the Wild, there is only death and disease.

The Amethyst Keepers

Powerful enemies that must be defeated to expand the "safe" known areas and push back the Wild - if
you can find them.

The Unknown

Discover new materials and tools to aid your mission and navigate dangerous territory. Explore the
ever-growing safe areas to find the next Amethyst Keeper. Learn to build or find structures to guide
your journey.

Expansive

The Wild is as big as the Overworld itself - and a Keeper is always ready, waiting to do battle!

Roadmap

  • This is a hard, fast start, and there are no difficulty levels yet. Expect to die working out how to stay alive.
  • Multiplayer is supported, but the system is currently geared for single player. Future plans include features to enhance how it feels for several players.
  • Worlds are not guaranteed to be portable between versions; expect to start a new one after updating.
  • Late-game structures are partially implemented.
  • Porting to modern Minecraft/Forge is the intent.

Requirements

  • Minecraft **1.20.1**
  • Minecraft Forge **47.4.10** or newer 47.x
  • Both mods installed together: FrontierMode depends on Satchel.
  • Kill the rabbit.

Frontier Mode - Need Pre-alpha Dev Testers - 1.20 Forge 47.4.10

Amethyst Keepers have invaded the Overworld!

Take on the challenge to beat back the tide of giants and expand the Frontier in this new take on the border expansion concept. Roguelike treasures, tools, and randomized exploration require players to set new goals and strategies, and to work with what their environment provides. Dare not enter the Wilds beyond the Frontier - there lies certain death. But for each Keeper and its Guardians that fall, some part of the Wilds will be freed. If... you can find the Keeper. Not with a faint heart.

Frontier Mode provides the experience of the Minecraft we know and love with an additional set of rules. If you've ever felt a listless lack of progression, while not seeking the commitment asked from a full-blown RPG, you might enjoy this experience. Like vanilla Minecraft, the story is simple, and the goals are what the player makes of them. Adventurers can scour the known lands for the next Keeper, Builders can challenge themselves by making use of what the land gives them, and Explorers may seek out the boundary of the Frontier itself. Currently seeking a few evaluation players (not paid, attributions given).

This mod ecosystem is in early development, meaning the game loop is playable, and many features are to be added. The next goal is to find out: "Is it fun?" If not, what direction does it need to go? Tell us in the comments what you like best about vanilla Minecraft to request an invite to the Discord!
